Perfect guest house

Fantastic hosts and staff... nothing was too much trouble. Matthew was waiting at the door when we arrived to welcome us. Service and attention to detail was superb. If only we could have stayed longer. Will definitely return. Read more

It is the little things that count....

Matt & Paul could not be better hosts, nothing was too much trouble for them. They went out of their way to accommodate every need including lending my husband a black tie for a funeral we were attending when he dropped his in a dirty puddle! A very comfortable room with everything one might need, spotlessly clean (& included access to a fridge with ice, fresh milk etc) but it was their friendliness, warmth, thoughtfulness, quiet unobtrusive help & kindness that made this a 5* for us. Before we arrived they had realised that we might need to checkout late so had changed our room just so we could go back to change again later. Perfect location for York & great to have free parking.

Wonderful

The Bloomsbury is one of the most welcoming Hotels I have stayed at. The staff are really friendly and lovely to talk to and the hotel has a really wonderful feel about it. My room was beautiful. This was a really comfortable stay and I felt very comfortable here, which means a lot to someone who usually gets anxious staying away from home. The breakfast is also very delicious. Thank you so much. Read more

Welcome made us feel like old friends

We stayed for 3 nights to attend a friends wedding. Matthew was welcoming and knowledgable and our room was beautifully decorated with every facility. On Saturday morning the hot water failed. Matthew was up in less than a minute of being told about it and opened up another room where the hot water was working so we could use the bathroom. The hot water was fixed by the time we returned in the early evening. The breakfasts were great, absolutely fresh ingredients. Read more

Beautiful B&B in York

Very enjoyable night at the Bloomsbury in Clifton. Friendly welcome from Paul when we arrived and shown to our room. We had a table booked in York city centre but didn't fancy walking back into town as it was a cold night. Paul was happy to book us a taxi. The room was a good size and the bed was one of the comifest that we had ever slept in, Although the hotel was on a main road and it was a very cold night we didn't hear or feel the cold. It was a lovely quiet location. Read more

From the warmth of the welcome to the cosy room and a faultless breakfast , this place is a gem

We were in York for Xmas shopping but did so much more... the walk along the river into the city is a great constitutional after The Bloomsbury breakfast ... the Yorkshire museum is amazing ... we ended up spending 2 hours there but could have stayed all day ... York never disappoints , there is something round every corner to take in and enjoy ... the only difficulty is choosing where to eat ... so many great eateries .. Read more

Perfect, welcoming accommodation

I spent two nights at the Bloomsbury, in the Lily room. The room was perfect, if a little small, clean, comfortable and had everything you could need for your stay. The managers, Mathew and Paul, were absolutely charming and extremely attentive. The quality of the breakfast was probably one of the best I've ever had in a hotel. I loved that the ingredients were all locally sourced too. All in all a fabulous stay and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Bloomsbury to friends in the future. Read more

Best B&B in York

We had the most incredible, magical holiday away, allowing for some much need couple time. It was everything we'd hoped for...and then some! We were warmly greeted by Paul & Matthew, with a hot cuppa, to boot! Our room was bright and clean. We stayed in the Holly Berry room which had a wonderful, magical view of the garden below. The Bloomsbury House dog, Harvey, was exceptionally adorable. It felt like "home" to us. Thank you! Read more
