Description

The Chequers is a stunning 16th century Inn that has been sympathetically refurbished by experienced pub operators Tim Lightfoot and Chris Middleton. The menu is a combination of classic and modern British pub food served in an informal environment with open fires (priest holes) and friendly locals. Lunch and dinner is served everyday and a traditional roast served on Sundays. There are 4 superbly refurbished letting rooms, one of which is double sized and has a kitchenette and dining area, ideal for families of up to 4 or a longer term let for anyone working a long way from home. The Chequers is 5 minutes from Duxford ideal for anyone visiting the air museum and Fowlmere has its own beautiful RSPB nature sanctuary, fantastic for nature lovers or a family day out. The Chequers is well known for catering for the US & British airmen and women from WW11 stationed at Fowlmere air base with their pictures still hanging above the fantastic Inglenook open fireplace in the bar. There are records stating that Samuel Peeps also frequented the pub in the 17th century. Cambridge is 15 minutes away and Royston 5 minutes giving you all the local amenities you need from a beautiful rural location. Families and dogs are welcomed but dog free dining areas are available too. The Chequers caters for all types of functions and events from wedding receptions to intimate gatherings, wakes and business meetings. There is free Wifi, a large car park and a stunning patio and garden to enjoy in the warmer months.

The guest rooms and the pub are easily accessible for disabled customers. There is no specific disabled toilets but they are on the ground floor with only very small steps to navigate.
