Traquair House Information
Description
Traquair Castle dates from 1107 and has been visited by 27 kings and queens. In 1491, James Stewart (second son of the Earl of Buchan) was granted an Earldom and the house is still lived in by descendants of the Maxwell Stuart family to this day. Traquair House has three spacious double bedrooms each named after their decoration - the Pink Room, the Blue Room and the White Room. All are furnished with antique furniture, canopied beds, have private bathrooms and central heating, and are available on a "bed and breakfast" basis. All bedrooms have wifi and have been given a four star gold rating with VisitScotland. Additional beds for children available on request. Please contact the office to check availability of extra beds. The Pink room is located on the first floor of the main House and overlooks the maze at the rear; the Blue and White rooms are located in the 17th century wing and are on ground level. The Lower Drawing Room is available to all guests staying in the House during the evening, when the House has been closed to the public, and you can relax in front of the wood burning fire, surrounded by family portraits, and relax with a book or a drink from the residents bar. Honeymoon Couples are particularly welcome for overnight stays, and receive a complimentary bottle of bubbly. Take a look further at rates and our special offers. Please be aware that we can not accept online bookings within 48 hours of your proposed stay. Please call 01896 830323 to enquire. Breakfast Breakfast is served in the Still Room from 7:30am until 9.30am. Breakfasts are prepared each day by our housekeeper and have received a 'taste our best' award from VisitScotland, with a focus on local and Scottish produce. All dietary requirements can be accommodated, please let us know before your arrival. We do not provide an evening meal, however are very happy to recommend many of the excellent local restaurants and help with your arrangements.
Traquiar House provides a unique, historical and peaceful location for your stay. As we are small and exclusive we can provide a very personal service, and take pride in making our guests feel relaxed and at home. We look forward to welcoming you to Traquair.

Accessibility
Traquair welcomes all visitors but unfortunately we cannot make the house fully accessible to wheel chair users and we do not have full accessibility at Traquair House. However we do have two bedrooms on the ground floor that may suit some guests. For those wishing to view the House, we have recently introduced a video tour of the house which can be viewed on the ground floor by request. The video lasts approximately 15 minutes and is an informative history of the family and tour of the house. Please call us for more specific help.
