Description

Virginia House is Ulverstons best kept secret!! ...the home of fine dining and cosy rooms in Furness, just south of the stunningly beautiful English Lake District and only a few miles from the town of Barrow in Furness with its rich heritage of shipbuilding and engineering industries. VH as we're known is a beautifu Georgian Townhouse refurbished in a classic & traditional, yet contemporary style and nothing like the impersonal chain hotels such as Premier Inn or Travelodge - at VH we care about you, our customers and will go the extra mile to ensure you have a pleasant stay and are looked after by friendly, warm, accommodating staff alongside owners Craig & Louise who are always on hand to greet you and answer any queries you may have. Virginia House is ideal for a business stay, having quiet comfortable rooms with free wifi, and a fine dining restaurant perfect for corporate entertaining for both lunch and dinner. It's equally as suited to a leisure break too, being at the start of the long distance walk the 'Cumbria Way', and Ulverston as a traditional market town is a friendly place to while away a few hours. Take an invigorating short hike up Hoad Hill to the Sir John Barrow monument, or a stroll down the shortest and deepsest canal in the country to be rewarded with stunning views across the estuary. The Lake District, just 20 minutes drive away has something for everyone from remote undtrodden paths, to the more popular tourist rambles, a whole host of outdoor activities, or plenty of shops to mooch around if the energetic activities don't appeal! Chef Patron Craig Sherrington welcomes you to enjoy a wonderful dining experience in his relaxed restaurant (his life dream and pinnacle of his career so far), and whether your visit is for business or for leisure, Louise assures you of a warm welcome and a good nights sleep in one of our cosy well equipped ensuite bedrooms. Check in is from 4pm Tuesday to Saturday and from 5.30pm Sunday and Monday.

Virginia House is accessed from street level by 6 shallow steps with hand railings on both sides. Our restaurant and gents toilets are on the ground floor. Our ladies toilets and one guest bedroom are on the first floor, accessed by a flight of shallow rise stairs with a landing midway, handrails on both sides. Teh remaining 7 letting rooms are on the second floor, accessed by a flight of standard rise stairs with hand rails on both sides and a landing midway. Virginia House is a period Georgian building of Grade II listed status and does not have a lift or disabled toilet facilities.
