Description

Drem Farmhouse is a large Georgian house set in the picturesque conservation village of Drem, located in the heart of East Lothian, surrounded by golf courses, beaches and within easy reach of Edinburgh. It is the family home of Hugh and Marlene Smith who welcome their guests for Bed and Breakfast (evening meals available with advance notice). The house is comfortable and beautifully decorated through out with a dinning room , drawing room and a large sun room all over looking the extensive gardens. Adjoining the main house is 'The Bothie' providing self catering accommodation, for up to four people, on weekly basis. The Bothie has its own sheltered courtyard with outdoor furniture and barbeque. From the courtyard there's access to the upper part of the garden where amongst the shrubs and trees you can discover the ancient ivy-covered remains of a medieval Knights Templar chapel. Drem's location, in the heart of East Lothian, is perfect for exploring the surrounding countryside. With over twenty golf courses in the area, including Muirfield Links, East Lothian is a golfers paradise, however there are many other attractions for non-golfers. Edinburgh is only 25 minutes by rail (Drem station 5 minutes walk from the house) and slightly longer by road and has everything you would expect from such a historic capital city. The best times of year to visit are Hogmanay and during the Edinburgh festival (on for the whole of August). Other attractions include the Castle, Hollyrood Palace, The new Scottish Parliament and the Royal Yacht Britannia at Ocean Terminal.
