Warm welcome from the Gosforth Hall Inn

We stayed one night at the gosforth hall inn and were very happy with the service from start to finish. We arrived after the kitchen had stopped taking food orders, but they wouldn't see us go to bed hungry. The man at the desk graciously arranged for us to have a meal two hours after the kitchen closed. The bar staff were friendly, as were the folks hanging out in the pub. The room was lovely, quiet, clean, and warm with a comfortable bed. Breakfast in the morning was great, with veg options! Read more

It was all good, would've liked to stay another night and explore the area a bit more since we arrived when it was dark
Dislikes?
The breakfast window was only from 8:30-9:30. We would've liked to eat a bit later, after we had packed our bags ready for checkout. We felt a bit rushed, but the service was really friendly.

Very nice pub hotel on edge of Lake district

Friendly welcome on arrival. We had a dessert in the restaurant and then a drink in front of the fire in the pub. Nice end to the day. Room was large and clean with a big bed. Just be aware that the pub is right on the edge of the lake district and quite a long drive to many of the lakes. Great for scafell pike Read more

What a find, can't wait to return to this fabulous place.

One night was a gift from family and we stayed for two. We stayed in room 3 which was absolutely wonderful, spacious, comfortable and beautifully furnished with a fabulous en suite. The restaurant food was good and the service excellent, the breakfast couldn't be faulted. The bar areas were warm and friendly with very reasonable drink prices. What impressed most was the genuine care taken by every member of staff to ensure that our stay was nothing short of exceptional. How could we not return? Read more

If we'd been looking to find fault we'd have failed. We were made to feel welcome and valued from arrival to departure, the owners and staff couldn't have been more helpful. Customer care at its best.

Fantastic stay :)

We had a lovely stay in the annexe building in a new room with a view of a garden. As soon as we arrived we were made to feel very welcome by all of the staff at gosforth hall. The room was clean and airy with a large bed, tea making facilities, TV, iPod docking radio and a great ensuite bathroom. We had dinner in the restaurant on the first night where there was a fantastic range although most of us had the sea bass option! The breakfasts were delicious and we were made to feel very welcome! High quality rooms for a comfortable stay

I travel the UK throughout the week and inspect numerous hotels and businesses. As a seasoned traveller, I was very surprised to see such excellent, contemporary, cosy accommodation. Food was very well presented, tasty and more importantly value for money.

Would highly recommend staying here again. Read more

Each room is unique with a number of features now enhanced to show the true beauty of the building. After much dedication and effort we are helping to bring back the beauty to the once stately Gosforth Hall. The complete refurbishments of the bedrooms and bathrooms have been finished to a level that displays the high quality of workmanship in West Cumbria. The moment you walk through the door you will be greeted with a warm welcome and what is reputed to be the widest spanning sandstone hearth in England. To add to the beauty of the Hall, Scafell Pike and Wastwater (voted best view in Britain) can be found just up the valley.
