The first thing that strikes you when you walk into Summerhouse is the triple aspect sea views across the coast to Wales and up through the Lyn Valleys. Two comfortable leather tub chairs take in a wonderful double aspect view of Foreland Point across the sea to Wales. The ensuite bathroom has a double ended bath and integral shower plus the benefit of an external window.
Hollerday (middle floor) is an intimate romantic room with a Queen Anne style American four-poster standard size double bed and matching furniture. The view looks over Lynton town with the Bristol Channel and Swansea in the distance. The room faces west picking up some wonderful sunsets from behind Hollerday Hill. Kipscombe (top floor) has commanding double aspect sea views of Lynton & Lynmouth across the Bristol Channel to Wales. This is our largest room decorated in soft gold and cream tones,it has an antique French bedstead with a 6ft wide super-king double bed, there is a pair of comfortable leather tub chairs and desk in the room. The Cleaves (top floor) is a large romantic room with an impressive reproduction Jacobean 6ft wide super-king sized bed plus sofa. The village was really interesting, although if you're going to make the most of it you'll need to be quite fit as the roads and pathways are very steep in places. Arrived safely with the directions given. We were early but were obligingly allowed to leave our car and luggage. We did some local walks along the coast path which was the main aim of our break. We ate out in some very good local restaurants. The situation and ambiance of this hotel were excellent. The views are very good but you certainly need to be fairly fit if you plan to walk in this area, many hills- which is of course the attraction. Taxi transfers from Lynton reasonably priced. Stayed in the Summerhouse room, which is a perfect size, LARGE SuperKing bed, with sofa and small but modern ensuite. We found the location, a little away from the centre of Lynton, ideal. The views were stunning. In our too short stay we enjoyed some lovely walks, fortified by a delicious and sustaining breakfast. Made a last minute booking in this hotel because its in an area that we really love. Arrived a little earlier than expected but had a good reception and welcomed with a cream tea that was delicious. Room was truly fantastic, very clean and with a stunning view over the bay. Owners recommended a local hotel for dinner that again was terrific and good value. We arrived early on Saturday morning to be greeted at Highcliffe by morning coffee overlooking the stunning views. We only stayed for one night but were very impressed with the attention to detail as our trip was made all the more easier when we were advised about our trip (a short walking holiday) and where was best to walk and visit. Well situated (if you are ok with small hills) in Lynton. You can easily get to Lynmouth via cliff railway, zig zag walkway or by road which takes a couple of minutes down the hill. Hotel was beautiful and very clean. Decorated to a high spec and in keeping with the building. Friendly and welcoming owners and staff, wide selection of DVD's to take to your room on rainy days or evenings. The Easter bunny visited our room and left a delicious Lindt Bunny while we were out! The room we stayed in (Countisburn) was beautiful. Like the rest of the house, it strikes the perfect balance between embracing the modern and retaining the traditional. The breakfast choice and provision was fantastic. The owners were friendly and always willing to offer their local knowledge. The offer of a drink on arrival was a welcome touch after a long and difficult drive in the dark and rain. Highly recommended. I house is lovely and furnished to a high standard. The location is excellent with a lovely view. Lynton/Lymouth is the best place to base your trip to North Devon. The breakfast is very good. The House is run by the two owners, and it shows. As it is there business, they are helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable about the local area -- including walks, restuarants (we enjoying Rising Sun, Vanilla Pod and On the Steps). Highcliffe House provided a superb base for our short break in Lynton & Lymouth . The accomodation was of the highest standard and we were made to feel competley at ease in the property. The guesthouse is situated atop a high hill in Lynton and gives panoramic views of Lynton/Lynemouth and the surrounding coast. Our room was large and well equipped with a v.large double bed. However, the shower room was far too small and claustrophobic.
The hosts were very friendly and welcoming and the breakfasts were v.good. Guest facilities (other than our en-suite!) were v.good.

I arranged our stay for my husband's birthday and he loved the hotel. We both thought the room, Summerhouse, had the best view of any we have stayed in! In addition, we had no complaints about the food, it was lovely and both the owners were lovely and very helpful too. The communal areas were very nice.
