Across the Pond Bed & Breakfast Information

Built in 1919 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this Colonial Revival Style home sits on a beautiful corner lot. Enter the home through the large Iconic-columned porch into the charming living room and dining room. A grand maple staircase leads to the three guest rooms on the second floor. This old home may be grand, but the welcome you will receive will be warm and genuine. The owners poured a lot of thought and love into the renovation in 2013. Outstanding sparkling bathrooms; crisp white linens and fluffy towels carefully laundered by your hostess the Queen of the Laundry; comfy chairs and eclectic artwork and did we mention books? Browse the extensive collection in the stately library or ask to see 2,000 more in the attic. The Sun Room will quickly become a favorite. Not just because of the delicious home cooked breakfast and glass of wine served here at the evening reception, but because of the crazy red couch, amazing rocking chairs and the bright sunshine streaming through the wide windows. Yes, it's almost always sunny in North Carolina and then there's the Carolina blue sky!

Andrew and Mary came from "Across the Pond" decades ago and will welcome you warmly to their Bed and Breakfast. Proud Anglo Americans they love to chat and share information with their guests. In fact, spending time with guests is a priority in this comfortable home. Andy will tell you tall tales about how he grew up without indoor plumbing and an outhouse, but now has six bathrooms and he cleans them all! He will speak of his love of his adopted home in the South; how he loves walking downtown where he is sure to meet a few eccentrics who are always willing to stop for a chat; he enjoys his favorite brewery where he can find a decent pint of beer and can chew the fat with the bartender about the glory days of his home town "football" team; Mary will share a recipe or two; ask her about the latest show at the theater, where to get a manicure or a massage or take a yoga class. All are located close by and Mary will make you a nice cup of tea when you return.
