The Blacksmith Bed and Breakfast Information


Welcome to the 300 year old Blacksmith’s, Flaxton. It is situated in the centre of the beautiful village of Flaxton, just 9 miles from the centre of York & ideally placed for visiting the North York Moors and the East Coast seaside resorts of Scarborough, Bridlington, Filey and Whitby. Castle Howard, the setting for the TV series Brideshead Revisited, is just 5 miles away. Bed and Breakfast accommodation is available in our four charming rooms, each retaining many of the building's original features. All of the rooms are en-suite with either shower or bath facilities. Two of the rooms have a double bed and a single, the largest family room has two king size beds with the option of a full size single if required, the fourth room has a double bed. All rooms have a TV, & WiFi. Tea & Coffee is available in the guest kitchen. along with a fridge, microwave and a small oven. You have chosen to stay in a B & B instead of a hotel. This means I cannot provide 24 hour service. Check in is after 4.30pm Check out is 10.30 am Breakfast is served in the bar and is available between 7.30 and 8.45am. Please ensure you inform Claire what time you require breakfast. It is cooked to order so a specific time is required. Rooms will be cleaned between 11-12 each morning, if the room is empty, if not it will be cleaned the following day. Please respect the towels! Approximately 5 towels a month have to be thrown out as a result of them being used to remove make up….Mascara does not wash out!. Please place damp towels on the towel rail. Smoking is strictly forbidden in the bedrooms and a £200 cleaning charge will be payable.

    There is not a frequent bus service from York
  • Road from York (10.0 miles)
    Leave York on the A64 towards Scarborough. After 4.8 miles from the York outer ring road turn left into Scotchman Lane. Continue for another mile into Flaxton and the Blacksmith's Arms is on the right in the middle of the village.
