Collon House Information
Description
Collon House, built in 1740, has been restored to the highest standard, and won first prize from An Taisce (Irish National Trust) for conservation. Enjoy bespoke bedrooms with every modern facility and our traditional Irish breakfast served in the panelled dining room. Dinner in the panelled dining room is also available if booked in advance for groups of 4 or more. Alternatively there is an award winning restaurant within walking distance. The house is an ideal base from which to explore the historic Boyne Valley, Bru na Boinne (Newgrange), the high crosses at Monasterboice, Old Mellifont Abbey and the Battle of the Boyne visitor centre are all less than 20 minutes drive away. The gardens have been restored to the highest standard, with period planting, a box parterre and Grecian summer house, Collon House is a member of the "Boyne Valley garden Trail " and is a partner garden with the "Royal Horticultural Society of Ireland".
The house is steeped in history, full of character and charm; its gracious rooms are exquisitely furnished with period antiques and paintings, retaining the atmosphere of early Georgian living, yet providing every need for 21st Century living. This is a rare opportunity to experience a historic house less than one hour from Dublin City Centre, or 40 minutes from (DUB) Dublin Airport, and five miles from the historic village of Slane.
