Courtyard Cottage Information

Description

Underhill House is at its core an 18th century welsh farmhouse. The property came into ownership of the Harlech Estate early in the 20th century, at which time it became the Estate Managers residence. Courtyard Cottage has been converted from one of the original old farm buildings – it’s believed it was the Estate Managers office. Today it offers a perfect hideaway for parties of up to four guests, with facilities for an infant additionally if required. We do accept one well behaved dog also - but note there is a charge, of £15, payable prior to arrival - and we do ask that your pet respects house rules - not on furniture, not on beds, not upstairs, mess to be cleaned up, and on a lead in the grounds at all times. The two super king beds can be broken down to form singles as needed, whilst there is a seated area to the rear for enjoyment of the peace and quiet. We can supply Barbecue facilities if required (bring your own charcoal!) and there is free access to the superb childrens play area shared with guests in our neighbouring four bed cottage, Little Underhill, and of course, our son and his friends. Both bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms, but access from the Kitchen and Living area to Bedroom One is via Bedroom Two (or via a short walk on the patio). For avoidance of doubt, check the floorplan of the cottage to be found amongst the general photos. Superfast Electric Vehicle Charging is available onsite by arrangment - prices per Kwh can vary but we are confident we offer a competative rate. The cottage offers all mod cons – dishwasher, washer dryer, TV, DVD, along with Broadband for those who have to have it! Though mobile phone signal is atrocious, as you would expect from our rural location – so why not turn off the gadgets for the length of your stay and enjoy the digital detox you deserve?

We are relative new comers to this beautiful corner of Shropshire - we've been living here since August 2018 with our son Freddie, our llamas, sheep, chickens and cat. We're in the process of exploring the area ourselves, and we'd love to share that with you - come as guests and leave as friends.

Directions

A car is required when staying at the property
  • Road from Oswestry (2.0 miles)
Coming from Oswestry on The Mount Road (B4580) you will find yourself climbing a steep hill on a rural, fairly fast road. The Mount becomes Racecourse Road. After about two miles, keep your eyes peeled for a small triangular crossroads sign on the left - this is our turning. Right would take you to Pant Glas, but you want to go left onto the no through road. Proceed about 50 meters, and take the next left into the drive of Underhill House to find us.
If when on Racecourse Road you find yourself passing either Underhill Cottage or Lawyers lane on the left, you have gone too far by about 200 meters and need to turn round. If you crest the top of the hill, you are at the Old Racecourse, and have gone too far by around half a mile.
We advise not using a SatNav to find us by postcode (SY10 7PN) - but try inputting Underhill House to google maps - that will bring you straight to us (Both our cottages are within the grounds of Underhill House.)  Finally, for an EXACT location, use the What Three Words app, which ties in well with satnav apps like Waze - brands.scoots.irony
