The Cricketers Information


Our lovely, clean and inexpensive accommodation rooms are very popular for business and pleasure alike - good food being a core ingredient of a stay at The Cricketers. All rooms are close to the main building and are individually decorated and furnished to a high standard, in a cottage or a contemporary style. All rooms have the facilities of a modern hotel room, including free wireless internet access. We take the sourcing of really good produce and ingredients very seriously; the meat is properly hung and the fish is always fresh, using local, seasonal and organic where possible. We make fresh bread for our guests every day, and include home made pasta on our menu. We offer an extensive wine list and have included a Connoisseurs selection. We have hand pulled ales and have an exciting choice of gins, whisky's and other spirits to. our Bed If you choose to book our 'Special Offer' dinner bed and breakfast package or our Bed and Breakfast rate and you require a meal, please advise us of the preferred dinner reservation time and the number of covers in your party. If you are celebrating a birthday or an occasion then please let us know, you can also order a freshly made cake for your party or perhaps a bottle of 'bubbly' on arrival' We also cater for dietary requirements and are allergy aware, please call us in advance to discuss any arrangements.

Booking Terms and Conditions


Public Areas: Outside terrace and entrance is on the same level as the car park. The main bar drinking and dining area is also on the same ground floor level. The restaurant is accessed by two steps from this. Public toilets are in the main bar and have two steps with handrails. Our Willow (Best) room number 20 has parking outside the room and is all on the same level with a purpose built wet room and rails for using the wc.


  • Road from M11 North (7.0 miles)
    Leave M11 at junction 10 and take A505 East. After approx. 1.5 miles turn right onto A1301. After 2.2 miles turn right on to the B1383 at the roundabout. Follow the B1383 to the centre of the village of Newport and turn right onto the B1038 signposted Cricketers, Clavering. (N.b. Do not confuse us with the Cricketers Arms at Rickling Green, signs for which you may pass on the B1383)
  • Road from M11 South (9.0 miles)
    From M11 South. Leave M11 at junction 8 (Stansted Airport) and take the A120 West. Turn right at the second roundabout on to the B1383 where you will see a brown sign for the Cricketers, Clavering. Follow this road unto you reach the village of Newport. In the centre of Newport Tuen left on the B1038 signposted Cricketers, Clavering.
  • Road from From A10 (11.0 miles)
    Take the B1038 from Buntingford heading towards Clavering/Newport.
  • Train from Audley End (6.3 miles)
    From leaving the station car park turn right done the hill and then take a right onto the B1383. Follow this road until you reach the centre of Newport village then turn right onto the B1038 (signposted Cricketers, Clavering).
  • Air from Stansted Airport (14.0 miles)
    Follow directions from the Airport towards Bishops Stortford. Cross over the M11 and take the A120 West. Turn right at the second roundabout on to the B1383, where you will see a brown sign for the Cricketers, Clavering. Follow this road to the centre of the village of Newport, turn left on to the B1038 signposted Cricketers, Clavering
