The shopping and cultural centres of Chester, Oswestry and Shrewsbury are also within easy distance. There are numerous places to eat close by, from cosy country pubs to pleasant restaurants and cafes. For that special celebration, Wales’ only Michelin starred restaurant is just a twenty minute drive away. Take a break here and you'll find so much to do and so many interesting places to visit, or just relax and unwind in the peace and tranquility of this beautiful area.

Simon and I moved in to Ty Isar Plwyf in early October 2018 and are delighted to be taking over the running of Dee Valley Cottages. Our two lovely cottages, Swallows and Wagtails, were converted from derelict 17th century barns by previous owners, Richard and Jenny. It was a real labour of love for them and not without its challenges! But as planned, they opened in May 2006 and have welcomed numerous guests in the years since then, with many returning year after year. When the time came for Richard and Jenny to move on, they were looking for someone who would love and care for this beautiful place, as they had done for so many years. We fell instantly in love with Ty Isar Plwyf, the two cottages and the stunning location with its breathtaking views over the Dee Valley. We hope we can continue as they did and welcome guests to share this little piece of paradise for many years to come.

We are easy to find, just off the A5. From Llangollen take the A5 towards Corwen travelling west into Wales. Stay on the A5 past the canoe centre, further along you will pass the Berwyn steam railway station, and then a turning to Vivod on the left. Just beyond the turning the valley will start to open out on the right. Stay with the A5 and you will come to a sweeping right hand corner with a row of wooden posts on your left with red and white reflectors on them, you will then pass the Toll Gat

Keep an eye open for our sign at the end of this lay-by. We are 200 yards past the sign, on the right down a bridle way. If you miss the turning off the A5, after about a mile, you will come to the Butterfly Man on the right. Turn round here and try again.
