Eight Bells Hotel Information

Description

The history of Hawkhurst goes back over 1,000 years. The oldest known settlement was the Saxon manor of Congehurst, which was burnt by the Danes in 893 AD. There is still a lane of this name to the east of the village. Hawkhurst is famous for smuglers and especially "The Hawkhust Gang" It is also very popular with walking parties following the trails through the lush countryside. The Eight Bells is very much a village pub, our locals are always very friendly and always pleased to welcome our guests offering local information. The Eight Bells is located just a few miles from the pituresque National Trust Bodium Castle: https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/bodiam-castle Also within a mile of the fantastic Hawkhurst Fish Farm: http://hawkhurstfishfarm.co.uk/ both very much worth a visit if your time permits. We offer a fine selection of traditional cask and keg ales, lagers, spirits and wines. We have two bars catering for all tastes, one with an open fire, pool, darts and high definition TV, and a quieter relaxed traditional atmosphere in the other. Food is available seven days a week from 12 lunchtime until 9pm, we also have a seperate restaurant and function room ideal for parties / meetings. Our rooms have recently been refurished and look out towards our gardens, both rooms have twin beds, Freeview TV, Free WiFi, Tea / Coffee making facility. Both rooms share a large bathroom opposite.
