House of Sea and Sun Information

Description

This magnificent oceanfront home was built in the early 1920's by Louise Wise Lewis Frances, the niece and heir to the Henry Flagler fortune. When this house was built it was a social gathering place and still is to this day. From the pinewood floors to the beautiful antique hand-carved mantel around the fireplace, this house retains the elegance of a bygone era. The warmth and hospitality of Patty the Innkeeper is beyond compare. You'll feel welcome the moment you arrive, and you'll be making plans to return before you leave. The living room has beautiful antique furniture, including Victorian Courting Chairs and a fine collection of crystal and china. The breakfast room greets you with sunshine and original recipe breakfasts. It is enclosed so that you can enjoy the ocean view in modern comfort. There is no shortage of great restaurants, shopping, outdoor adventures and sight-seeing to be experienced during your stay with us. We are only 5 miles from historic St. Augustine, the Nation’s oldest continually inhabited city; founded by the Spanish in 1565. Here you can enjoy shops and restaurants as you stroll down cobblestone streets. You will feel like you've gone back to a simpler more relaxing time. While downtown you might enjoy taking a Trolley Tour of the Old City, which stops at the Castillo de San Marcos, the Old Jail, Fountain of Youth and Ripley's Believe it or Not. See the town from a different perspective by taking a Scenic Harbor Cruise, helicopter ride, or renting jet skis or climb the stairs to the top of the - lighthouse! For a bit of nature, St. Augustine offers kayaking eco-tours from the Marina and kayak rentals and picnicking at Anastasia State Park. Or stop by the Alligator Farm and see amazing creatures from all over the world. There are many excellent local seafood restaurants, or you might like to catch a fish yourself right from the local pier or fishing charter.
