Heritage Meadows Farm Bed & Breakfast Information
Description
Originally this farmstead was built by Stephen Whitlock in 1855, then later left to his son John and his wife Elisabeth Nellis. The original farmstead consisted of 289 acres, including a dairy farm, Whitlock Mills which was a sawmill and lumber yard, and a cheese box factory. Between the lumber mill and dairy farm. crops and a cheese box factory this farmstead was pretty much self sufficient. In our own way we have tried to also grow most of our own vegetables and fruit and can, freeze and preserve everything possible.Heritage Meadows Farm B & B now exists on 60 acres with gardens, fields, rescue horses and in "farm first" country shared with Amish neighbors.
Stephen Mihal in the past managed a thorough bred farm and Judith came from a restaurant family that was in business over 50 years. We married late in life and purchased the Whitlock farmstead in 2005. We then proceeded to redo the whole house and grounds - adding many trees, (shade and fruit) gardens (vegetable and flower) and animals (3 rescue horses, 1 dog and 2 kitties. Heritage Meadows Farm B & B was opened in 2007. We've been busy. Our address is St. Johnsville, but we actually live in Ephratah and the area around us is just beautiful, with rolling hills and fields that change with each new crop and the seasons. There is always mowing, maintenance farm chores etc.etc..so we do not sit around much. But the property now lends itself to relaxation for our guests.
