Description

High above the "dooryard", the Chickadee gets an extra helping of fragrance wafting up from the roses growing right below. It is a small, charming room with old-fashioned built-ins and wide-pine floors and our most economical solution. It's quintessential Maine. This room is a favorite of guests travelling alone, although its two single beds can accommodate two people just the same. Like all of our rooms it features a library of "real" books from our personal collection and though sunlight streams in almost all day long, beckoning you to come outside, guests have been known to stay and read and nest; there is a childhood feel about this room... The Chickadee shares a bathroom with the Nuthatch right next door. Located across the hall, the bathroom is under the eaves, but it has a large, walk-in shower and a skylight right above the sink with a view of our signature twin-peaked spruce.

Description

Warm and bright, with three windows, two of which let in the evening sun, the Goldfinch is on the ground floor, with a view of trees and evergreens. It is one of the two former parlors of the house and its wide-pine floors and elaborate moldings will help you feel as if time just slowed down by 180 years. The bed, a beautiful mahogany four-poster family heirloom is a traditional full, but sleeps two people comfortably. A secretary of the same vintage invites you to pick up a pen, but it will tolerate your laptop, too. The room also has a huge walk in closet and an en-suite bathroom with a tub shower. It features art from three centuries and houses part of our personal book collection. Once you close the door behind you, we can assure you, relaxation will begin.

Description

The Nuthatch looks down onto our gardens from its second floor perch. A charming room with old-fashioned built-ins and wide-pine floors, it's quintessential Maine. It has a southern exposure and sunlight streams in almost all day long. Add to that a large library of "real" books from our personal collection and you can imagine that some guests have found it hard to leave once they have nested here. This room has two single beds, but it is large enough that you can combine them into a king should you want to stay longer and can't stand to sleep apart. It also features a beautiful antique arts and crafts desk and a comfortable chair, especially handy if you want to bring a laptop and use our wireless internet connection. The Nuthatch shares a bathroom with the Chickadee next door. Located right across the hall, the bathroom has a large, walk-in shower and a marvelous skylight right above the sink... makes for perfect bird-watching as you brush your teeth.

Description

The Robin is on the second floor, perching high up under the eaves. It is a writer's dream. Cool and cozy, it is the most private of our rooms and its north-side window makes you feel as if you sit among feathery hemlocks. A desk, hand-carved by Dominika's father from yellow pine he brought back from the Austrian Alps, offers plenty of space for your laptop and we made sure there's a powerstrip for all those other electronic gizmos you might bring along. The Robin also features a comfortable wing chair with a huge hassock and a reading lamp. A large library of "real" books from our private collection can inspire the writer in anyone and will make the reader feel at home. The Robin has a contemporary queen-sized sleigh bed, a large closet and a private, en-suite bathroom with a shower stall.
