Little Underhill Information

Description

Underhill House is at its core an 18th century welsh farmhouse. The property came into ownership of the Harlech Estate early in the 20th century, at which time it became the Estate Managers residence. Little Underhill was originally the stables and hay loft of the farm. The Cottage sleeps up to eight persons. We do accept one well behaved dog also - but note there is a charge of £15 per night payable prior to arrival, and we do ask that you observe a few house rules - not on furniture, not upstairs, on leads in the grounds, mess cleared up... Today it is a beautifully presented four bedroom Holiday cottage with its own private garden. The bedrooms consist of a Master bedroom with Superking bed, two further bedrooms with Kingsize beds and a fourth bedroom with a bunkbed – of which the bottom tier is a double, the top, a single – so good for kids, or adults if required. The large farm house table in the Kitchen Diner comfortably seats ten, plus we have cot and high chair for an infant – or you can bring your own. There is a Utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer, whilst the kitchen features an Aga and dishwasher – as well as an induction ring for those who need it. TV, DVD and (rural speed) broadband come as standard. Superfast Electric Vehicle Charging is available onsite by arrangment - prices per Kwh can vary but we are confident we offer a competative rate. There’s a woodburning stove in the sitting room for those chilly winter evenings, and we supply all the logs you need as part of the package. And we have a table football game set up in the snug to get the heart racing when all the country quiet gets too much. Use of the large patio and cottage garden with its expansive lawns and beautifully tended beds is exclusive to Little Underhill - whilst there is access to the fantastic children's play area, shared with the our two bed, Courtyard Cottage, and of course our son and his friends.

We've been living here since August 2018 with our son Freddie, our llamas, sheep, chickens and cat. We're continuing the process of exploring the area ourelves, and we'd love to share that with you - come as guests and leave as friends.

Directions

A car is recommended when staying at the property
  • Road from Oswestry (2.0 miles)
Coming from Oswestry on The Mount Road (B4580) you will find yourself climbing a steep hill on a rural, fairly fast road. The Mount becomes Racecourse Road. After about two miles, keep your eyes peeled for a small triangular crossroads sign on the left - this is our turning. Right would take you to Pant Glas, but you want to go left onto the no through road. Proceed about 50 meters, and take the next left into the drive of Underhill House to find us.
If when on Racecourse Road you find yourself passing either Underhill Cottage or Lawyers Lane on the left, you have gone too far by about 200 meters and need to turn round. If you crest the top of the hill, you are at the Old Racecourse, and have gone too far by around half a mile.
We advise not using a SatNav to find us by postcode (SY10 7PN) - but try inputting Underhill House to google maps - that will bring you straight to us (Both our cottages are within the grounds of Underhill House.)  Finally, for an EXACT location, use the What Three Words app, which ties in well with Sat Nav Apps like Waze - spine.bottle.scrambles
