The Mitre Inn is situated in the small village of Sandford Orcas, just three and a half miles north of Sherborne, tucked in the rolling hills of the Dorset countryside. The pub was originally built in 1851 as a cider house but now as a freehouse, we sell beer and cider from local breweries such as Apex Brewery and Yeovil Ales. The present owners have run the pub since 1992 and having purchased the pub in 2014 have completed extensive refurbishment, whilst still keeping the charm of the building. The owners Allen and Cheryl Page have now established two high standard letting rooms, boasting en- suite shower rooms. The rooms have received high reviews on booking.com and trip advisor. Allen and Cheryl have two wonderful dogs, Finlay and his daughter Freya. They will welcome you throughout your stay and whilst the pub is dog friendly, unfortunately we are unable to allow dogs to stay in the letting rooms. Guests can use the pubs car park throughout the duration of their stay free of charge. Check in times are between 12-3pm. We serve traditional cooked English breakfast as well as fruit, cereal and yoghurt which is included in the price and served between 7-9am. Guests can help themselves to the tea and coffee making facilities provided. Our pub menu consists of homemade soups and snacks and a selection of traditional hearty dishes such as home cooked ham, egg and chips, pies and steaks. Our food is served Tuesday-Sunday lunch time and evening (please note the pub does not serve food on Mondays and is closed Monday lunchtime). If you have any special dietary requirements, please let us know in advance of your stay, we already have a selection for vegetarians. Two National footpaths pass through the village as well as a National cycle route (please see further details of the walks on our website).
