Escape to this special place & stay a while....

You are warmly welcomed by Melanie & John to Nithbank, built for the Chamberlain of the Duke of Queensberry in 1790. Suites have large windows with spectacular views and a copper or gold bathtub in each en suite. There’s a small library halfway up the stairs with comfortable chairs and a good selection of books and maps. A 3-course breakfast is served in the dining room: homemade Cranachan, granola and muesli, traditional full Scottish with veggie or vegan options, smoked salmon, trout, local eggs and fruit from Nithbank’s orchard and kitchen garden. Wander the gardens along a series of ponds and waterfalls down to the river, or through ancient woodlands, take a book to the terrace on sunny days or enjoy a local gin or whisky in the stunning Drawing Room. You’re offered a lift to Thornhill or it’s a 15-minute walk to supper. Return to sumptuous suites, a fridge for your own use, homemade shortbread and local chocolate.
