Our self-catering cottage is situated adjacent to a peaceful wooded area and a restored historical structure and grounds. A visit to this site provides a memorable window on local history. The surrounding landscape provides stunning views of the Burren Hills (to the West) and Slieve Aughty Mountains (to the East). Ardrahan Village is 1 kilometer from the holiday home site. The cottage is warm and cosy with a wood burning stove and central heating. On site is a children's play area, with swings, slides and wildflower meadow. One of the key features of the location is that visitors will genuinely feel that nature is a short walk away. The historic village of Ardrahan is conveniently located on the N18 between Galway City (20 minutes drive) and Shannon Airport (40 minutes drive). The coastal town of Kinvara is only a 15 minute drive away, and is famous for its traditional music all year round and excellent choice of restaurants and pubs. The town plays host to the annual Cuckoo Fleadh music festival in May, and the Crinniu na mBád in August, during which you will see the famous Galway sailboats 'Hookers' gather in the bay in one of the biggest festivals in the West of Ireland. Our self-catering accommodation provides an ideal base for day trips to the Aillwee Caves (30 kilometers), Bunratty Folk Park(30 Kilometers), Thor Ballylee & Coole Park (5 kilometers), the Cliffs of Moher (40 Kilometers), Connemara, Galway City (18 Kilometers), and Ennis( 18 Kilometers). Karen and Sean your hosts have lived in the area for over 40 years and will be on hand to provide you with local information. Karen is involved in local cultural tourism activities and can tell you "whats on" of interest during your stay. She has been a Volunteer at Thoor Ballylee, former summer home to W.B Yeats and is chairperson of the Lady Gregory Yeats Trail Group.
