Plas Efenechtyd Cottage B&B Information

Description

Plas Efenechtyd Cottage B&B: a beautifully restored 200 year old Welsh Farmhouse near the hamlet of Efenechtyd (Place of the Monks). We offer 4 star luxury with a warm welcome, stunning views of the Clwydian Range and a memorable breakfast. Tucked away down a narrow lane, the Cottage (the southern wing of a larger farmhouse) is set in an acre of gardens, surrounded by gorgeous, rolling Welsh farmland. Our dining room, with one large dining table, overlooks the garden so you can watch the woodpeckers, nuthatches and squirrels while you enjoy our homemade bread and jams, sausages and bacon from the local butcher and eggs from our own hens. If you fancy something lighter, we have homemade fishcakes. Only 2 miles away is the charming medieval town of Ruthin. You can visit the award winning Ruthin Craft Centre, have tea and cakes in one of several lovely tea shops, browse Ruthin’s independent shops for clothes or souvenirs and finish the day with a night out at a local pub or restaurant. We are ideally situated for days out to Snowdonia, Conwy, Bodnant Gardens, Llangollen and Chester. Offa's Dyke Path is only a few miles away. This is great walking and cycling country. Dave and Marilyn are Tourism Ambassadors for Denbighshire and are happy to advise on activities and places to visit. We offer a choice of double or twin beds and welcome children. Our rooms are stylishly furnished and have: En-suite bathroom or shower room TV / DVD with Freeview Tea and coffee making facilities Hairdryer Free broadband Wi-Fi internet access (we can provide a computer if you don’t want to bring your own laptop)

Directions

  • Road from Ruthin (2.0 miles)
From Ruthin take the road out of town signposted Bala. Go straight on at the mini-roundabout on the B5105 towards Cerrigydrudion (Bala is signposted left).  The road narrows and goes uphill towards a church and the Cross Keys pub.  Just before the pub turn left.  Follow the lane for about a mile to Efenechtyd hamlet.  Take the first right uphill between 2 houses (before you have reached the church).  Carry on up this road for about half a mile and Plas Efenechtyd Cottage is on the right.
  • Road from Efenechtyd (0.5 miles)
From the South (Corwen, Llangollen, Wrexham), you may come through Efenechtyd itself. In that case, at Efenechtyd Parish Church, take the small, steep lane almost directly opposite. Continue up the hill staying on the main lane about 0.5 mile until you see us on the right.
  • Road from Cerrigydrudion (12.0 miles)
From Cerrigydrudion and the A5, about 3 miles past Clawddnewydd and 2 miles before Ruthin you will pass a house on the left called ‘The Lodge’. Turn right immediately after this into a narrow lane. Our house is a short distance down this lane on the left hand side. You will see our tall pine tree by the house.
