The Plough has been a mainstay of Scalby village since 1899 providing travellers with a place to eat, drink and stay and this heritage continues today – a warm welcome awaits you. The Plough is full of character and charm combining luxury and comfort in effortlessly stylish surroundings. Our relaxed restaurant and bar delivers a great pub and food experience whether you’re looking for a quick bite to eat at lunch or more leisurely evening or Sunday dining - we’ve got it covered. Our Head Chef, Jon Smith and his talented team create classic modern British dishes with new and exciting flavours and our specials board allows us to showcase the very best local and seasonal ingredients. The bar stocks an excellent selection of local craft ales, beers, lagers and a wide range of superb wines and spirits. Each room offers the ultimate in comfort with many of the rooms featuring hand-made four-poster beds, luxurious bathrooms, power showers and quality bath products & robes. Sunbeam Cottage and Yew Tree Apartment are both located close to The Plough and sleep four people in two double bedrooms Pets are part of the family too and that's why they both welcome them with no extra charge for their stay. Enjoy the flexibility of a self-catering break with the ease of having The Plough and The Yew Tree Café services on-hand. No.23 is our newest cottage to join the collection also sleeping four guests it's just around the corner from The Plough Parking is free anywhere in Scalby village, but as we are in a residential area, patrons are asked to be considerate and ensure that no driveways or entrances to properties are block

Directions

  • Road from A64 Staxton (8.0 miles)
    Follow the A64 (from Staxton Roundabout) into Scarborough then the A171 towards Whitby. Follow the road and you will pass the hospital on your left, continue along the A171 into Newby and then Scalby. As you enter Scalby village over the bridge take the second left turn onto High Street, we are 85 yards on the left hand side.
  • Road from Whitby (17.2 miles)
    From Whitby follow the A171 towards Scarborough once you reach Scalby village, take your third right hand turn onto High Street, we are 100 yards on the left hand side.
