Description
Rookwood Farmhouse B&B offers a warm welcome in a quiet and comfortable night's sleep just outside Newbury. It has a restaurant/spa within walking distance as well as a golf course and driving range. All rooms are en suite or have private bathrooms and there is a large sitting room with conservatory and kitchen for guests' use. There are extensive, landscaped gardens and a heated, outdoor swimming pool for guests' use during the summer months. Alongside the Kennet & Avon Canal, the largest town in West Berkshire, Newbury, has a bustling high street with many interesting shops, which include unique stores such as family-run department store Camp Hopson. Once a month the town is also visited by the farmer’s market, crammed full with delicious, local produce. Overlooking the town is another Newbury landmark. Donnington Castle saw much action during the civil wars of 1643 and 1644. Today all that is left is the gatehouse but visitors are still attracted by the views. Also just outside the town is the internationally renowned Newbury Racecourse positioned in a stunning setting and boasting fantastic hospitality. Nearby is Highclere Castle, the filming location for Downton Abbey.

Road from M4 (15.0 miles)From M4 Junction 13 take the A34 south. After 5 miles, exit at the Bath Road Junction, also signed A4 Hungerford, Donnington Speen. Turn Right at the roundabout and cross the bridge over the A34. At the next roundabout, take the second exit signed Wickham, Lambourn. As you enter Stockcross, turn right signed Woodspeen and a Nursing Home. Keep left and Rookwood House is 90 yards on the right.
