Shirwell Park Information

Description

This illustrious old country house has a long history of entertaining in style, dating all the way back to a son-in-law of Henry I. Although primarily a family home, we have a 900-year history of making guests feel welcome and we strive to make sure every visit has a special sense of “occasion”. Our private gardens are amongst the best in North Devon, particularly the walled rose garden, which is formally laid out and a riot of colour and scent in season. The pleasure grounds, some 20 acres in total, comprise woodland walks, a picturesque duck flighting lake and a 250-year-old horse chestnut tree. We also maintain a productive walled vegetable and cut flower garden, and a recently planted cider and perry orchard - produce from which regularly makes an appearance in our food. The grounds are ideal for walking off a big breakfast and finding your sense of calm. So much more than a comfortable night’s sleep and full English breakfast – we promise you a memorable break, whether it’s a special occasion or just a hard-earned weekend in the countryside. We can assure you – this is not your average B&B!
