Be amazed by the flickering of fireflies in the summertime & the Milky Way on many nights with more stars that you may have seen in a very long time. 2 fireplaces with split wood, large Great Room surrounded by windows with grand piano. This c.1900's cabin was totally gutted, remodeled in 2006. The modern kitchen has a poured-in-place concrete counter top, 1 lg Q BdRm upstairs complete with an owner's library, 1st fl bath with antique claw-foot tub/shower, central HVAC, wrap-around verandas, gas grill, Adirondack chairs & total silence ...or at least the sounds of silence!

1 of 5 log cabins on South River Highlands, the DeHart Cabin, c.1860 sits at the end of an internal farm road for total tranquility. It is built of hand hewn logs, backs onto woods with a seasonal view of the Maury River, an adjacent hayfield & an acre of mown meadow; 2.5 bedrooms, wood burning stone fireplace, fully outfitted kitchenette with antique farm table, wonderful back deck with grill, picnic table/umbrella; central heat, AC & baseboard heat. Bathroom has antique claw-foot tub/shower. Romantic & private with quality amenities.

Poplar Studio, once part of an old calving barn, this unique modern studio is adjacent to our farm home though with a private deck & entry. This studio offers a unique country experience! 400 sq ft open room has 1 Queen bed, a sitting area with a sofa-love seat and a wing-backed chair plus another full sofa. A dining table with 4 chairs, microwave & mini- refrigerator and coffee pot for your comfort while here. The full bathroom has a large shower with family style toiletries. A private wood deck with Adirondack chairs offers quiet afternoons. This self-catering studio is across the courtyard from Heartstone Lodge. Staying on this property is a fun country adventure & not your hotel experience! The vistas are beautiful. The 250 acre farm, South River Highlands, has knockout vistas, terrific hikes and across from the 7 mile Chessie Trail. Downtown Lexington is only 4 miles away with Excellent restaurants, gift shops, art galleries, coffee shops & many historic interests.

You will be greeted by an abundance of natural light and a view of the Blue Ridge Mountains through the large picture window. Lovely full kitchen with counter eating area/4 stools, fully outfitted, Living Room with sofa and chair. Coffee, teas, cocoa and basic condiments. The hardwood floor is bamboo. Original paintings line the wall, of course. Internet available, good cell reception. This space is"Self-catering" as are the rest of the farm accommodations. Located on a 250 acre farm, South River Highlands, this studio has use of the fire-pit, large courtyard, meditation garden & the beautiful 65 ft pergola if their is no event scheduled. The incredible modern day labyrinth is a highlight that you must be sure not to miss! 360 degree mountain range views reward the walk to the highest hilltop.

The Writer's Retreat on South River Highlands farm is an authentic one bedroom rustic, modernized log cabin dating from the early 1900s & sits on 250 acres of farmland in the Shenandoah Valley. It is fully outfitted with quality bedding, bath towels, family style toiletries, coffee, teas & a welcome gift from us - a bottle of wine. The Creamery is a fully outfitted, self-catering cottage studio adjacent to the remodeled dairy barn on 250 acres of amazingly beautiful farmland. This studio is one large room with brick floor, a full kitchen, bathroom with ample sized shower and family style toiletries, sitting area with a sofa bed & a love seat. The land is magical with some lovely walks just across the road plus walks on our adjacent property. Guests have use of the 65 ft grapevine covered pergola with fish pond and fountain, the chimenea, the private Creamery Hideaway directly behind the studio, the Cozy and the meditation garden. You are invited to walk the rest of the property & the modern day labyrinth. We are a self-catering retreat & encourage guests to unplug, unwind & reboot :) We are available by phone should you need us. We respect your privacy.
