Description

The Star Hotel is a traditional Scottish Village Hotel, with a welcome to match. All facilities are on ground level and are easily accessible by all. The rooms are located in an annex to the rear of the main building and therefore have the privacy of their own entrance. You can therefore choose to join in the events in the hotel, or relax in your room or the lounge. We specialise in Gluten Free, but we cater for everyone We have a very friendly Village Bar where everyone is welcome, including your Very Important Pooches Please note: The Bar & Restaurant are closed on a Monday - check-in available by arrangement

Accessibility

All rooms are on the ground floor in an annex to the rear of the building. Fully accessible. The main hotel is also on ground level, with no steps, so also fully accessible We are a small, friendly hotel who aim to make everyone welcome. We will give you the space and time you need to enjoy your stay and do our best to ensure you have everything you need

Directions

  • Road from South (63.0 miles)

    From the south take the M6 northbound linking onto the M74. leaving at the exit signed A75 Dumfries and Stranraer. Follow the A75 for approximately 60 miles to Twynholm.

    There are also regular train services from Carlisle to Dumfries

    With Bus services from Dumfries to Twynholm X75 and 500

     

  • Road from Glasgow (102.0 miles)

    From the north, take the M74 southbound and exit the motorway at the turn off for Dumfries on to
    the A701. Follow this road to Dumfries where you turn on to the A75 heading west to Twynholm,
    approximately 28 miles from Dumfries.

    There are also regular train services from Carlisle & Glasgow to Dumfries.  With Bus services from Dumfries to Twynholm X75 and 500


     


  • Road from East (50.0 miles)

    From the Newcastle-upon-Tyne area, take the A69 towards Carlisle on to the M6 northbound
    linking onto the M74 leaving at the exit signed A75 Dumfries and Stranraer. Follow the A75 for
    approximately 60 miles to Twynholm.


  • Road from Ireland/Cairnryan (50.0 miles)

    From Ireland? The nearest stop for coaches from Ireland is Castle Douglas. Again we can provide transport from Castle Douglas if so required

  • Bus from Dumfries (26.0 miles)

    There are regular bus services that come through the village from both Stranraer and Dumfries.
