The Woodland Glade at Browsholme Information
Description
We are the oldest family home in Lancashire, passed down generation to generation for over 500 years and this is at the heart of what we do. At Browsholme, we are proud of our commitment to sustainability, both environmentally, ecologically and economically. We use renewable energy across the estate and harvest our own timber for the wood chip used to fuel the biomass boiler. Secluded yet accessible, The Woodland Glade provides a unique opportunity to stay in the beautiful Lancashire countryside yet still have access to local amenities. Perfect for a romantic getaway or a short break in the countryside, our bijou lodges provide the privacy, comfort and peace you need. Set in the Forest of Bowland AONB, and in the famous Ribble Valley, you will see some stunning countryside to rival anywhere else in the UK. Moorland, woodland, farms, lakes and fields - we've got it all. The market town of Clitheroe is ten minutes away with plenty of shops and a market. Walking, cycling, climbing, bouldering and fell running are among the many activities in which you can partake. Other local towns include Lancaster and Skipton, both steeped in history. The Ribble Valley is known as a 'foodie' area. Local pubs and inns are plentiful and have excellent reputations. Several are in walking distance - a decent walk before and after your meal! In fact, most of our favourite walks will take you on the ‘scenic route’ to our local pubs, including the Red Pump Inn, the Inn at Whitewell and Waddington where you can find the Lower Buck, Higher Buck and the Waddington Arms. We think all good walks should have a good meal and a pint somewhere along the way! On Wednesdays from May to the end of September, Browsholme Hall is open to the public for tours and access to the gardens and lakeside paths. The tearoom serves a mouth-watering selection of freshly prepared food from our Five Mile Menu, using local produce.
Best way to describe our character? Rural, peaceful, family run - and the ideal get away from city life.

Directions

Road from Clitheroe (5.0 miles)
Drive out of Clitheroe, towards Edisford Bridge and turn right at the first turning past the pub. Follow the road up the hill, and you should see brown signs saying 'Browsholme Hall'. You will pass the Red Pump Inn on your left (great for food and beer!) - drive straight past this and carry on up the hill. You will shortly come to a large black sign on the right hand side of the road, telling you to carry on down the road for about 200 yards. Then you will find the back entrance to the site. Drive in, and on your left is the car park for the Woodland Glade.
