Description
The Bitty Houses are an ideal location and setting to make your home away from home with fully stocked kitchens, comfortable beds, and powerful views. The Bitty House boasts an upper level master suite with a queen bed and en suite powder room and a direct view to the Bald Knob Cross monument. Downstairs is a private bedroom with a full sized bed, a fully stocked kitchen, a full common bathroom, a sitting area, small dining table, and a very relaxing screened in porch also facing Bald Knob Cross. The Bitty House Too, located behind the Bitty House, has a private bedroom on the lower level with a queen bed. The main level has a spacious dining and sitting area, a fully stocked kitchen, a common full bath, a sleeping area with a daybed, and a cozy screened in porch. Enjoy the view of the Peachbarn Winery and vineyard from the back porch. Book both houses and bring the gang to enjoy the area's attractions for a fun-filled weekend. To book them both just search each by name, The Bitty House and The Bitty House Too. Rent a shuttle so you can visit with your group and not miss a thing. Book a guided hike in the Shawnee and finish your day at the winery next door, just a short walk away.

There are 2-3 steps up to enter the Bitty House. There is a private bedroom and full bath all on the main floor but the doorways are not widened to accommodate assistive devices or wheelchairs.

Road from Carbondale, Illinois (17.0 miles)
The Bitty Houses are located in the heart of the Shawnee National Forest in beautiful Southern Illinois just 17 miles southwest of Carbondale IL, 110 miles southeast of St. Louis MO, and 65 miles northwest of Paducah KY, on the outskirts of Alto Pass, IL. From IL-127 turn west onto Chestnut St. towards the large hill. The Peachbarn Winery is immediately off of IL-127 and the Bitty Houses are the first on the right after the winery and on the way to the Bald Knob Cross monument. GPS will still show directions crossing on a bridge over IL-127 from the town of Alto Pass. This is outdated as the bridge has been removed.
