The Crown Inn Information
Description
The Cotswold Stone of The Crown Inn is nestled amongst thatched cottages and period houses in this quiet rural Oxfordshire village. Flag stone floors in the entrance hall and bar, log fire and oak beams through out all add to its charm. Each room has been individually styled by Victoria sourcing a variety of designs and objects to create a contempory feel, blended with traditional patterns and textures from award winning designers including Rapture & Wright. Artwork throughout the building, including his own work, has been hand picked by George to reflect the local area, its beauty and history. Complimentary Wi-Fi, USB charging ports and Freeview TV's allow you to stay connected or should you choose to switch off and unwind do so in any of our rooms with a good book, comfortable chair and lovely view of this quaint English village. The area is perfect for those wishing to explore the glorious countryside of West Oxfordshire, The Cotswolds & beyond. The village links with numerous footpaths, notably The Shakespeare Way, bridleways & country lanes, popular with ramblers, cyclists and motorists alike. Nearby market towns of Chipping Norton, Moreton in Marsh, Stow on the Wold and Stratford Upon Avon offer a choice of shopping and tourist experiences. For those wishing to pursue the former Bicester Shopping Village is a mere 20 minute drive away. Being in such a rural location provides the perfect opportunity to take part in a number of country pursuits.Clay Pigeon Shooting, Fishing, Horse Riding, Golf, Rambling, Cycling, Hunting, Flying are all accessible nearby & Cheltenham Racecourse 50 mins away. There are plenty of things to see and do in the local area, from Farm and Wildlife Parks, to Historic Houses and Gardens including world famous Blenheim Palace. Church Enstone is the ideal base for a number of festivals throughout the summer, including The Big Feastival, Cornbury, Wilderness and Wychwood Festivals. Soho Farmhouse is less than a 5 minute drive.
George and Victoria were trilled to become the new owners of The Crown in August 2018 and are still struck by its unique sense of place. The pub is tucked away from the fast moving highways of our modern world and hope you will share in this sense of stepping out and immerse yourself in comfort, history and a little luxury. In each room they have provided a copy of Lifting the Latch a story of life on the land in Enstone from the turn of the 20th Century, hoping you will dip into it and connect with a little of our local past. These walls have seen over three centuries of conversation and putting the worlds to rights and they hope you will add to that by joining our locals and diners from further afield as you enjoy a local beer or glass of wine at the bar. You can also quite literally step into the surrounding countryside and enjoy some terrific local walks starting from our front door. Part of their philosophy is not only to eat and drink well but to be stimulated by what you see. So it is hoped the works of art (often for sale) and objects enhance your stay too. Above all they hope that your experience at The Crown leaves you feeling energised and refreshed.
