The Exeter Inn Information


We are located on the edge of the village of Bampton and is a lovely destination pub and restuarant with rooms. And is the perfect base to explore our gateway to Exmoor and beyond. Bampton itself has its own heritage centre and we have over 70 listed buildings/features for you to enjoy, including two red telephone boxes !!. From the bar we will love to give plenty of reasons to keep visiting us so we ensure we’re always bringing interesting new lines into our cask and craft ranges. Our great drinks offer won’t be complete without the right drinks to enjoy so we have an extensive range of wines & spirits. We have three log burners one which sits in the original inglenook fireplace. The property was built in 1495 as a farmhouse, and it still retains some of the most beautiful original features . From the kitchen we pride ourselves on our food and have a wide range of traditional English favourites together with mouth-watering daily specials for you to explore. Food is available lunchtimes and evenings not forgetting our delicious Sunday Roast. Whether you’re looking for a light snack at lunch or a full evening meal our pub provides the ideal setting. If you are planning on dining with us please call to reserve a table as we do get fully booked. Our newly refurbished boutique rooms each offer their own charm, and have been individually named to reflect the history of our stunning surroundings. We have also allocated several of them to be dog friendly. We do charge a flat rate of £15.00 for this ( max of 2 dogs per room ) Check in Hours: Monday – Sunday: Room Check in - 4.00pm - 21.00 Room Check Out 11.00 am

We are a small family run business and have an amazing team who all follow our passion ' The only way to do great work is to love what you do we will always either find a way or make a way to cater for your needs. Due to our ever increasing popularity please phone us on 01398 331654 if you are planning on dining with us so we can book you in as our restaurant tends to get fully booked and may not be able to cater for you this goes for lunch or dinner. Our Kitchen closes at 3.00pm on Sundays Also please not our check in times are strictly 3-10pm. This is for room only, we do offer a small breakfast menu which is Individually priced and can be booked and discussed on check in. We do have family rooms which can cater up to four people, there is an additional £20.00 housekeeping charge should a room be booked for more than two. We are dog friendly we do charge an extra small fee of £15.00 and ask to notify us in advance should you wish to bring your four legged friend. Please also beware we are unable to offer room servicing during your stay should it be longer than one night. Please just pop down and see a member of the team should you need fresh towels or any other requirements.

  • Road from M5 J27 (14.0 miles)

    Leave at Junction 27 head towards North Devon Exmoor Barnstaple, join the A361 continue until the first roundabout, Take the third exit towards Bampton continue for approx 3 miles you will find us on your righthandside just before the roundabout.
