The FarmHouse Inn Information

Description

Wondering why it’s called “The Farmhouse” when it is located right in the midst of the village? The Farmhouse Inn really was a Farmhouse, once upon a time…. Built in 1862 by Charles Northup, a local shipbuilder, to use as his personal residence, the house was sold to the Lyons family sometime between 1870 and 1880. At this point it became the Farmhouse for one of the 3 largest farms that made up the non-shipbuilding facet of the Village of Canning during the 1880’s. The Lyons family continued to own the Farmhouse for 4 generations. In 1989 the farmhouse was converted into a Bed & Breakfast and named the Farmhouse Inn B&B. Today, the house has 6 well appointed rooms/suites with full ensuites and it continues to display the original 1860s wide-plank wood floors and original 1900 tin-pressed ceilings in the dining room.
