The Dairy, a Grade II listed building was part of the old milking parlour, and has been converted and refurbished into a delightful self catering cottage that will sleep up to 3 people. The Dairy is entered through a shared court yard. On the ground floor you will find a fully equipped kitchen diner and lounge. The ground floor has underfloor heating, supplied by our Biomass boiler. A rear door leads on to the patio area with views of the Margam Hills. Upstairs there is a bedroom with a Superking bed that can be converted into two single beds, and an en suite shower room. The wooden ceiling beams are mostly original but where they have been changed the timber has been used from The Old Granary floor joists. The cottage has reclaimed oak floors throughout and these were recovered from an old private school in Cardiff. The Dairy is ideal for couples with a child who want to explore the beaches and country side around the Swansea Bay and Gower area. Tyn Cellar Farm was originally part of the Margam Estate and Margam Park with its historical buildings, Abbey, country walks and wild deer is only five minutes away.

This unique Grade II listed barn has been lovingly refurbished into a 2 bedroom self catering holiday cottage. It has retained many of its original 1880’s characteristics including all of the original beams in the bedrooms. The cottage on the ground floor is open plan with a fully equipped kitchen, dining, and large living area. The spacious wet room is also downstairs. There is a door at the rear that leads out onto a large patio area. On the first floor we have 2 double bed rooms with superking /twin beds and a toilet. The 2 bedrooms rooms are lit by Velux windows. The cottage has free view TV and wifi. Downstairs is heated by underfloor heating supplied by our Biomass boiler, whilst the bedrooms have thermostatic controlled radiators. The oak flooring in the bedrooms has been recycled from one of the local schools that was being demolished. The cottage looks east so catches the morning sun through its 2 large windows and has views looking out onto its own large enclosed courtyard garden. This cottage was used for rearing the young cattle on the farm before they were ready to be turned out in the spring after over wintering in the barn to pasture.

This is one of the oldest buildings on the farm and one of the prettiest with its red stone work thought to date back to the 1400’s . This cottage consists of 2 bed rooms both on the ground floor with a superking/twin bed and bunk bed in each bedroom. Both bedrooms are ensuite. This is suitable for families or 4 single persons in each. The ground floor also has a large kitchen diner and spacious lounge with access to a large patio area with views over the Margam hills. There is underfloor heating in the stables which is supplied by our Biomass boiler. This stable block was used to house the farms shire horses (the tractors of their day) in individual stables, but during the renovation it was found that the stables were so badly riddled with wood worm most of the existing timber had to be disposed of. We have retained the original oak stable entrances and these are on the wall in the lounge area. On one of the stable posts you will notice that there is a plaque that is from the Glamorgan regiment for the 2 horses that the farm gave them to aid the war effort in the first World War in 1914. This accommodation would be ideal for Groups i.e. Cyclists ,Walkers,Golfers and Large Families

The Granary is a 2 bedroom 1st floor apartment which is accessed by original stone steps. The apartment consists of a large kitchen, dining, living area, a shower on the 1st floor and 2 spacious bedrooms on the 2nd floor. Both beds are super king and can be split if required into 4 singles. The Granary dates back to the 16th century and was originally the cart shed on the ground floor with the grain store above. The building underwent a major refurbishment in the 1880’s when it was made smaller and the dressed stone work was done. It has now been carefully converted to retain as much of its’ original character as possible. The front door is the original door from the 1880’s with a fully working lock.

Tyncellar Farm Holiday Cottages Information
Description
Tyn Cellar Farm Cottages are Grade 4 listed by Visit Wales and the whole farm is Grade 2 listed and was once part of Margam Abbey dating back to the 1200s. We have a record of every tenant who has farmed here since 1536, the disillusionment of the Abbeys. Some of the properties were updated in the late 1800s and still retain some Victorian characteristics including the roof tiles. All the cottages have underfloor heating, free wi-fi and fitted kitchens. All beds in the cottages are super king and can be split into singles if required. We also have a heated drying room for your wet kit and a secure storage area for your bikes and golf clubs. We have a community hall on site that is used for weddings, christenings and other events, including regular yoga classes 2-3 times a week which guests are welcome to book in and join. All our hot water and heating is supplied by our own green energy biomass boiler. All our rainwater from the roofs is harvested into a pond for the ducks and geese. We have a large car park on site. All guests are encouraged to assist with recycling all their waste. The cottages are: Tyn Cellar Cottage, a 2 bedroom cottage which sleeps 4 The Dairy a 1 bedroom cottage with a superking and single bed, sleeps 3 The Lodge has 3 bedrooms, 1 with double bed, 1 with 2 single beds and 1 with bunkbeds, sleeps 6, The Stables has 2 bedrooms, both ensuite, one with a fully equipped wet room for the less able and will sleep 8 comfortably. The two apartments are The Tack room, a one bedroom first floor apartment that sleeps 2 and The Granary a two bedroom apartment which sleeps 4.
We have been running the Barn B&B at Tyn Cellar Farm successfully for the past 10 years and started renting the cottages out two years ago. After a lot of hard work we converted the old farm buildings into holiday cottages, we managed to retain as much of the original and Victorian character as possible. We like our guests to have a lasting, memorable and comfortable experience staying with us. Phil is one of the local Tourism Ambassadors and has a knowledge of the history of the surrounding area. All guests and their children are welcome to be interactive with the farm livestock under supervision.
