Waters Run Guest House & Suite Information

Description

Escape your everyday. This 90-acre working family farm embodies the Appalachian culture. Tucked away in Savage River State Forest, the location provides you the opportunity to experience some of Western Maryland's stunning scenery or to just "be" at the farm. Explore all that mountain farm life has to offer — visit with the horses, watch the birds, roam the mountain trails, or walk the flower gardens and fields. Fly fish, kayak or canoe on Savage Reservoir, paddle boat or cross country ski at New Germany State Park, or boat, jet ski and snow ski at Deep Creek Lake — all within 15 minutes of the homestead. Featuring a Guest House and a Garden Suite, choose which one will suite your needs. Both offer private parking, entrances and bathrooms. The Guest House features a full kitchen, dining area and living area. The Garden Suite provides you with the necessities and a small kitchenette with a toaster, microwave, small refrigerator and coffee maker. Both include a BBQ in season and private patio areas. Enjoy a relaxing morning on the patio by adding a some homemade goodies to your stay.

Waters Run is the farm and family homestead of Donald and Beth Gaster. Their oldest daughter, Sadie and her husband Scot, moved back to the farm in 2015 after their first child was born. In true farm fashion, you can leave the farm, but it never leaves you. Now, with their four kids (Hartley, Harmon, Marshall and Opal), they work hard to keep homesteading alive. Depending on the time of year, you can find them working in the garden, making preserves, canning fruits and vegetables, taking care of the farm horses, baling hay, or planting flowers. Along with Donald, they are working the farm and keeping Beth's hospitality alive. Beth opened the farm to guests in 2001. Serving people and making them feel at home was Beth's specialty — she loved being a host to all that traveled through. After a brief battle with cancer, Beth passed in 2016. The farm is a family operation that includes Sadie's siblings, Rhett (Danita) Gaster and Molly (Randy) Furman and their kids, Kylie, Kadon, Amber, Abby and Noella. Without them the farm could not run, stay beautiful and support the family through all the seasons!
