Waterside Cottage & Cabin Information

Description

Waterside Cottage is a traditional crofting cottage which was built in 1857 and sits on Broadford Bay, one of the best birdwatching areas in the island. It has lots of character and its layout means it is as welcoming for 2 people as it is for 8. In the words of one guest ‘the house just wraps itself around you’. We also think it’s in a great location, close to all amenities, central to visit the whole of Skye and Lochalsh yet when the tide is out you just need to head down the garden to discover wonderful birdlife, rockpools, beaches, and islands which you’ll usually have to yourself. At high tide the water comes within a few feet of the garden’s edge – ideal for launching that canoe. It’s a great area for kids and adults alike – wellie boots advised for splashing around on the shore – and if you have dogs a perfect place to let them run. If you’re lucky you may discover a fossil or two for which this part of the coast is renowned. For relaxing on those sunny days you’ll find plenty of tables and seating in the garden where you can gaze out over the bay and to the mountains beyond. Watch out for the herons which are resident at the water’s edge, and the ducks which usually parade through the grounds from spring to summer. Visit in autumn and winter and you’ll find the wood burning stove in the cottage made up ready for your arrival, hot water bottles in the bedrooms to keep you extra toasty and plenty of games and DVDs. There is also Wifi to help you plan your itinerary. We frequently stay at Waterside ourselves and there is no better way of testing things out and checking everything is in place. We get many comments that the cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay and as we like cooking we make sure the kitchen has all the main utensils and good quality pans and crockery. So whether you are a couple, a group of friends, colleagues or a family, we welcome you to Waterside Cottage . We are sure you’ll have a lovely time.
