Two open fires greet you in the bar on colder days and our outside terrace offers a perfect spot for alfresco dining in the summer months. Directions

  • Road from London (58.0 miles)

    Take the A3 Southbound towards Guildford and Southampton; approx. 7 miles after Guildford, take the Milford turn off onto A283 to Petworth. Following the one-way system through the centre of Petworth take the A285 south towards Chichester.

    At Heath End, turn onto Burton Park Road. This turn is marked with a brown tourist sign for ‘White Horse Inn’ and signposted to Sutton.

    In 1 mile, turn right towards Sutton, also marked with a brown tourist sign. Follow the road for 1.5 miles to the parish church of Saint John Baptist. The White Horse Inn is a further mile on your right-hand side. If our car park is full, guests can make use of the Village Hall car park across the road from the pub.

  • Road from M3 Winchester (56.0 miles)

    Follow the meandering A272 Eastbound from Winchester through Petersfield and Midhurst to Petworth before taking the A285 south to Heath End.

    At Heath End, turn onto Burton Park Road. This turn is marked with a brown tourist sign for ‘White Horse Inn’ and signposted to Sutton.

    In 1 mile, turn right towards Sutton, also marked with a brown tourist sign. Follow the road for 1.5 miles to the parish church of Saint John Baptist. The White Horse Inn is a further mile on your right-hand side. If our car park is full, guests can make use of the Village Hall car park across the road from the pub.

  • Road from M27 Southampton (48.0 miles)

    Follow the M27 Eastbound and A27 Chichester Bypass before taking the A285 north to Heath End.

    After 9 miles, at Heath End, turn onto Burton Park Road. This turn is marked with a brown tourist sign for ‘White Horse Inn’ and signposted to Sutton.

    In 1 mile, turn right towards Sutton, also marked with a brown tourist sign. Follow the road for 1.5 miles to the parish church of Saint John Baptist. The White Horse Inn is a further mile on your right-hand side. If our car park is full, guests can make use of the Village Hall car park across the road from the pub.

  • Road from A27 Brighton (30.0 miles)

    Follow the A27 Westbound from Brighton.  At Arundel take the A29 over the South Downs to Bury.

    At Bury, turn left onto West Burton Lane, past Bury Primary School and towards the village of West Burton.  Continue to follow this road past Bignor Roman Villa and through the village of Bignor.  Continue onwards towards Sutton.

    Bury to Sutton is approximately 3 miles.

  • Train from Pulborough (7.0 miles)

    Pulborough railway station is operated by Southern Rail and connects to London Victoria via Gatwick Airport and south to Portsmouth & Southsea and Southampton via Chichester.

  • Air from Goodwood Aerodrome (11.0 miles)

    Goodwood aerodrome welcomes Goodwood Aero Club and visiting pilots all year round.  Goodwood aerodrome is situated 1.5nm NNE of Chichester.  Goodwood is an all grass operating environment, with limited parking on apron areas.

    A flight information service is provided by an air traffic team, who also coordinate the PPR requests for visiting aircraft. Call 01243 755061.

    During published operating hours, the aerodrome operates at RFF category 1 fire cover, with RFF category 2 available on request. If you require RFF category 2, please let us know as soon as possible. Any variation to RFF availability will be promulgated as a NOTAM.
