Description

Welcome to the Abbey Bed and Breakfast. Established 2001 and is well known as Derry City,s most popular Guest House.Located on Abbey Street which is 3 minutes walk to the Guildhall and City center. Abbey Street is off William which runs in to Waterloo Place and Waterloo Street where all the best traditional bars are located.The Visit Derry tourist office will also be located at Waterloo Place in 2016 making Abbey one of a few B&Bs that will be located 3 minutes walk from here. From the rear of the building you look out directly on to Derry,s 17th Century Walls and right behind the house is Rossville Street. This is the Street where the Iconic Gable wall know as Free Derry Corner is located.This is also the Street where the sad event of Bloody Sunday happen in 1972. The famous Bogside murals and the Bloody Sunday monument and H Block monument are also on this Street. 2016 will also see the opening of the new state of the art Museum known as Free Derry Museum. Opposite the B&B is a Credit Union building which also has an ATM and an exchange bureau. There is Free Public CAR PARKING beside the B&B. In 2015 Abbey B&B has been completely refurbished to Boutique Hotel Standard. Contemporary style decoration with Leather beds and attention give to quality bedding and furnishings. All rooms are Ensuite with TV and Fibre Optic broadband throughout Building.Room 1 has a disabled bathroom and access. Breakfast is cooked to order and all diet catered for and served to order. Guests can make Tea/Coffee in this area when the wish.Abbey B&B is a good base for touring Giants Causeway, Game of Thrones film location. Great base also for touring Donegal. Foyleside shopping Center and Millennium Forum and some of the finest Restaurants in Ireland are only 5 minutes walk. We are all about friendly Hospitality and Location.

Accessibility

Abbey Bed and Breakfast is the only B&B in Derry with disabled access/facilities. Room 1 on the ground floor has a bathroom suitable for use by disabled persons. The shower is large with hand rails and also grip rail beside sink and WC. There is also a ramp at the front entrance to B&B. The Abbey Studio Tea Room is also beside room 1 so Guests can enjoy great Coffee and choice of tea,s as well as traditional Irish food. Also outside room 1 is designated smoking area with seating.

Directions

  • Train from Railway (1.5 miles)
    Leave railway station and enter city using top deck of craigavon bridge, take left at end of bridge going up Abercorn road; go straight all the way passing 2 sets of traffic lights until you come down in to Bogside flyover; take 1 left after free Derry corner and then take 1st right at Fredrick street, which leads to Abbey street. Also you may phone Abbey B&B and if it is possible we may be able to offer you a pick up,this always must be arranged.
