Barley Bree Restaurant with Rooms Information
Description
At Barley Bree, the classically-trained French chef, Fabrice Bouteloup, uses Scottish produce to its full advantage, in a seasonal menu that changes several times a week. Game, local lamb and beef, chanterelles and wild garlic from the nearby woods and luscious local soft fruits all make an appearance. His bread is almost as famous as his Tarte Tatin, which is a permanent fixture. His wife Alison Bouteloup's background is in the wine industry and she has chosen the restaurant's highly regarded list. Barley Bree is the ideal base for a golfing, walking, fishing or shooting break. There is a locked gun cupboard and a drying room. Late breakfasts and packed lunches are not a problem. The world class courses of Gleneagles are just 9 miles from Muthill and there are numerous other courses in the area. The Perthshire countryside is perfect for gentle ambling or serious hiking. There is coarse fishing, fly fishing and even sea angling close at hand, as well as rough shooting, driven shoots and stalking. Bring home a fine bag and Fabrice will even cook it for your dinner. Please note the restaurant is closed Mondays and Tuesdays. A room reservation made online does not guarantee a table in the restaurant - please email us to request a table reservation. Also although we can offer free wifi, we are out in the countryside, it does not always work (it is a bit unreliable).
