Dancing Bear Guest House Informació

The Dancing Bear is a five-minute walk to Shelburne Falls' many attractions including the world famous Bridge of Flowers, the Glacial Potholes, Shelburne Falls Trolley Museum, as well as fine cafés, restaurants, galleries, bookshops, and antique stores. Within a short drive are opportunities for skiing, hiking, rafting, kayaking, and fishing, as well as Historic Deerfield, the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, the Clark Art Institute and the many shopping and cultural activities in Northampton, Amherst, Greenfield, Brattleboro, etc. Shelburne Falls lies on both sides of the Deerfield River where it tumbles over Salmon Falls. It is a village made up of parts of two towns--Buckland to the west and Shelburne to the east. Shelburne Falls has been famous since the 1920s for the Bridge of Flowers, but today it is also known an ideal get-away for travelers seeking rest and relaxation, stimulating outdoor adventure, art galleries, and fine dining.

Since opening the Dancing Bear Guesthouse in 2006, innkeepers, Philip Bragdon and Edith Bingham have welcomed guests from all over North America and around the world--including guests from Nigeria, Cameroon, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, China, Egypt, Nepal, Paraguay, Brazil, Colombia, Iceland, Finland, United Kingdom, Belgium, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, France, Germany, Israel, Azerbaijan, Denmark, the Netherlands, Sweden, Italy, Norway, Jordan, Ukraine, and the Dominican Republic. Philip and Edith enjoy sharing their experiences living and traveling in different parts of the world as well as their enthusiasm for Shelburne Falls and its beautiful surroundings. When they are not at the Dancing Bear, they can be found working on their farm just five miles away in Charlemont. Between the two of them, they speak Spanish, French, Russian, and some Portuguese, German, Swedish, and Italian. In addition to running the Dancing Bear Guest House, Philip teaches  in the local schools and Edith is a commercial artist. Please visit her website at www.edithbingham.com. Together they recently published a fine-press book, "The Carpet Weaver", a tradition tale from Azerbaijan.

Termes i condicions de reserva

Unfortunately, we are an historic house and there are no facilities available for wheelchairs. However, we do offer two ground-floor rooms for guests with limited mobility.

  • Road desde Boston (90,0 milles)

From Boston, take Route 2 west to Greenfield, Massachusetts (about 2 hours).
From New York City, take I-91 north to Greenfield, Massachusetts, Exit 26 (about 4 hours).
From Montréal, take I-89 south to White River Junction, Vermont, then I-91 south to Greenfield, Exit 26 (about 4 hours).
From Bradley International Airport (Hartford CT/Springfield MA), take I-91 north to Greenfield, Massachusetts, Exit 26 (about 1 hour).
In Greenfield there is a rotary at the intersection of Routes 2 and I-91.  From the rotary, drive west on Route 2, in the direction of North Adams.  Continue about 9 miles, to Shelburne Falls.  Take the SECOND of the three Shelburne Falls exits which is marked "Rt. 112 North: Colrain". This exit is actually a left turn onto Mechanic Street, so ignore all subsequent signs for Rt. 112. The Dancing Bear is in the fourth block (1/3 of mile) on the right hand side, No.22.
