This is a spectacular two-room apartment which sits right on the edge of the ocean - overlooking the islands in the Witless Bay Ecological Reserve. The Master Bedroom has a queen bed, and ensuite bathroom with over-sized shower. The living room/kitchen area offers one of the best views on this coast. A large deck leads offers an ocean overhang. Amenities include: Living room with queen-sized pull out sofa bed Kitchen area with microwave, fridge, toaster, coffee machine, etc. All linen amenities – sheets and towels - for 4 persons Dining area with table, 4 chairs Spacious deck off the kitchen/living area – outside seating for 4 Wireless internet Cable TV Iron and board Lots of closet space Clothes hooks for drying hikers' garb Plenty of parking

The kitchen and living room area has spectacular views - and a double patio door to large deck. That deck overhangs the ocean. A single rollaway cot is available in the suite's closet. Descripció
Whale Watcher House has a view like no other on the Avalon Peninsula. This is the Newfoundland that the ads "talk about"! 40 minutes south of the capital city of St. John's, we are far enough from the city to offer that ocean experience, but close enough to let you commute every day. We call this part of the coast of Newfoundland "the Irish Loop" - it won't take you long to declare like so many others before you..... "Sure, these folks are more Irish than the Irish"....and I believe we are. We will sing you poignant ballads, tell you fairy stories, and share our history, all in a dialect that keeps you keen to hear more! We have three units - the Puffin, the Loon and the Gannet - so named for the birds which frequent the islands offshore. The Puffin and the Loon both feature decks overhanging the ocean; the Gannet offers only partial ocean views of the ocean from its deck. Whale Watcher House, however, does not just offer the best ocean view on the Avalon - but because the islands of the Witless Bay Ecological Reserve are just offshore - you are treated to the gannets, the puffins, the kittiwakes, the storm petrels, and of course the whales - humpback, baleen, minke, fin - all chasing capelin, herring, and whatever food source the Atlantic provides. Situated on the East Coast Trail, there are a variety of walks/treks available right from the front door. You can find more information here: https://www.eastcoasttrail.com/en/index.aspx Every part of the Whale Watcher House - inside and outside - is about the view - my clients think it is the best on the Avalon, and their testimonies reiterate that sentiment. Situated south of the city of St. John's, we feature daily rental holiday accommodation options. Each unit is self-sufficient, and includes all amenities - linens, towels, BBQ, and much move. Whale Watcher House is open seasonally from May to November.
I am a long-standing accommodation operator - a Newfoundlander, a traveller, ex-military, ex just about everything! And i love this industry - this house...this coast....this island...and these people. My goal in providing you respite is that you have exactly that - a respite ...you can recharge your batteries through locally-based hiking, walking, swimming, kayaking, biking, dining.... or relaxing on your desk with a good book...or a set of binoculars!

Road desde St. John's (40,0 milles)
From St. John's:
1. take Route 2 (Pitt's Memorial Drive)
2. Take Exit 3 towards Commonwealth Ave.3. Turn left onto Heavy Tree Road/Route 3 South towards the town of the Goulds.4. After 9.7 kms, Route 3 will turn into Route 10 S / Southern Shore Highway.5. Follow HWY 10 south through Bay Bulls, through Witless Bay, through Tors Cove.6. Approximately1.6 kilometres south of Tors Cove, turn left towards Bauline East. This is an unnamed, but well-travelled road. There is an ATV repair shop on the corner – Melvin's.7. Whale Watcher House is located along that coastal road - about 2.3 kilometres in. It is house Number 315; it is located on the ocean side of the road...and there is a small humpback sign to catch your attention. If you reach the Church - you have gone too far.From Trans-Canada Highway (HWY 1) - traveling towards St. John's:1. Turn onto to HWY 13 from the Trans-Canada Highway (TCH) towards HWY 10.2. Follow Highway 10 for 20.8 kms to HWY 10.3. Turn right onto HWY 10 - and travel through Witless Bay and Tors Cove.4. Then follow as above to reach the Whale Watcher House.From Ferryland, Trepassey, etc. - if you are going North on HWY 10:1. Take the turnoff from HWY 10 towards Bauline East. It's about 19 from Cape Broyle.2. Follow the directions as above.
