War Hill Inn is the result of a 50 year love affair with the land. The property was purchased in 1967. The Manor house was built by the owners from 1968 to 1974. The owners used reclaimed wood for the bannister, wide pine flooring, and the mantle as well as hand hewn wood for the beams. In 1986 the house was converted to an inn and furnished with antiques. We added private bathrooms to all rooms and we converted a wing of the house into innkeeper quarters. The two cottages were built as guest accommodations. The Washington cottage was owner built in 1990. The Jefferson cottage was built in 2000 using lumber milled from trees grown on the land. The same wood was used for furnishings in the Jefferson cottage.
