Description

Column View is a newly refurbished self catering apartment occuping the whole of the ground floor of a traditional Victorian townhouse within the historic market town of Alnwick, Northumberland. The apartment has the highest quality furnishings throughout from its fully equipped kitchen to the large welcoming lounge with solid oak flooring and wood burning stove. There is a fully enclosed private garden and patio area and well behaved dogs are welcomed. Column View overlooks the Alnwick Tenantry Column and the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland's home, Alnwick Castle and The Alnwick Garden are directly next door. The largest second hand bookshop in Britain, Barter Books is opposite in the old railway station. The Alnwick Playhouse is 200 metres away and a two minute walk takes you into the town centre where there is a wide variety of shops, pubs and restaurants.The rolling Simonside Hills are 20 minutes drive to the west and the beautiful unspoilt beaches of Northumberland's Heritage Coast 10 minutes to the east making the apartment ideally placed for walkers,cyclists, tourers and golfers. Accommodation includes a large lounge and dining area with a comfy three seater settee that converts into a double bed if required.The bathroom contains a full sized bath as well as a walk in shower and the bedroom has two of the most comfortable twin beds from 'Feather and Black' complemented with the finest Egyptian cotton sheets. The kitchen is fully fitted and has a built in washer/drier.There is a 40" inch flat screen TV with Freeview, DVD and Bose CD/Radio accompanied with a wide selection of DVDs and CDs to use. To the front of the apartment there is a totally enclosed private patio and garden area ideal for any well behaved dogs. Apart from a single step up from the pavement Column View is entirely on one level. There is a secure storage facility for use free of charge and free unreserved on street parking directly outside.

Directions

  • Road from North on A1 Trunk Road (1.0 miles)
    If travelling north on A1 Road from Newcastle then take first slip road off A1 signed for Alnwick, travel straight across two roundabouts to junction on the right with B1340 road. The War Memorial is in the middle of the junction and we are directly opposite it.
  • Road from South on A1 Trunk Road (1.0 miles)
    Travel south on A1 road as far as Denwick which is five miles south of the first turnoff for Alnwick. Take slip road signed for Alnwick and turn right onto the B1340 road. Follow that road passing the Alnwick Garden until you reach the junction with the War Memorial in the middle. We are the first house on the right overlooking War Memorial.
  • Road from East on B6341 Road (1.0 miles)
    From the A697 Road travel east on B6341 Road into Alnwick. Travel straight on through the town centre under the Bondgate Arch to the junction with the B1340 Road on the left. There is a War Memorial in the middle of that junction and we are the last house on left opposite War Memorial.
  • Train from Alnmouth (4.0 miles)
    Exit railway station and turn left to junction with A1068. Turn left onto A1068 and head north towards Alnwick. At Oaks Hotel roundabout turn right and travel to War Memorial junction on right. We are opposite War Memorial.
  • Air from Newcastle Airport (30.0 miles)
    Exit Airport and travel east on A696 Road towards A1 Trunk Road. Turn left onto A1 and travel north towards Alnwick. Take first slip signed for Alnwick and travel straight across two roundabouts to junction with War Memorial. We are opposite War Memorial.
