The Dove's Nest holiday home is a romantic house offering ideal and luxury self catering accommodation for 4 persons (2 couples in 2 double rooms). A large romantic and elegant living space spreads over the first floor: lounge, kitchen and Alsatian 'stub' (dining room). Our romantic medieval house is listed as a national heritage building (Monument Historique). It is embedded in the medieval rampart (built 1500) of Riquewihr, only some yards away of the famous fortified gates of the Obertor and the Dolder. On the mountainside, the medieval city wall is the western wall of the house. On the street side, it is an Alsatian traditional timber framed house. Decorated with great care and especially equipped for 2 couples who seek holidays or a long weekend on the wine trail of Alsace, at the foot of the Vosges and a few minutes of Colmar only. The Dove's Nest is a romantic house with 2 double rooms (double bed and privative bathroom for each one of them). Living space spreads over the whole level with living room, kitchen, Alsatian “stub” (the part where the meals are taken). The restoration largely made use of the traditional techniques with organic and healthy materials (untreated wood, natural paintings with lime wash…). Authentic polychrome pieces of furniture and fabrics in Alsatian kelsch contribute to make this small house a real jewel. The house combines charm and comfort and is able to accommodate - Summer as Winter - travelers who are looking before all for refined and authentic places to stay… The fully equipped kitchen is open towards the “stub” (Alsatian traditional dining room) and makes it possible to be perfectly autonomous. But do not forget that the many ones and excellent restaurants of the village (some of them being listed in the Michelin Red Guide) - with excellent quality-prices ratio - are within walking distance.

Description
Our holiday lodgings in Riquewihr are located in 2 different places in the old historic village. 1/ Charming and chic lodgings of the Rempart of the Year 1291. They form a set of 6 exceptional lodgings around a small garden: 4 of them are located in an old Renaissance house built in the year 1580 on the first rampart of Riquewihr erected in 1291. The property faces the famous vineyard the Schoenenbourg which dominates the village; 2 other apartments complete the series in an adjacent house dating from the 17th century. All these lodgings have been designed to meet the official 5-star standards for the furnished tourist apartments category, as set out by the Ministry of Tourism. A small garden with a medieval design gives an exquisite touch of refinement to this original ensemble. 2/ The lodgings of the Rempart from the year 1500 A set of 3 romantic, elegant and comfortable lodgings, decorated in the purest Alsatian tradition. These exceptional lodgings are located on the second belt of ramparts of Riquewihr, completed in the year 1500. The walls on the west side of our gîtes are made of the rampart itself. The facades on the east side have the appearance of typical Alsatian half-timbered houses. They are quietly located. The Dove's Nest***** house is located here.

« Les Remparts de Riquewihr » belong to our small family business - Rosa Gallica sàrl - created by us, Martine & Jean-Paul Krebs, in 2003. We are travel enthusiasts who have evolved in the world of tourism throughout our careers (airlines). Our philosophy: that your stay in one of our gites is a highlight of your stay in Alsace! Our guests, some of whom have become friends over the course of their stays, want to savor every moment of their stay in Alsace. Having had the chance and the privilege to restore these houses steeped in so much history, set in such a beautiful setting - Riquewihr, a listed medieval village is among the most beautiful in France and Europe - we wanted to do more than a place to sleep. We wanted that, at the end of a busy day of visits and discoveries, you find pleasure in spending a moment of comfortable relaxation in an apartment that is your home during your stay. We wanted to honor a remarkable site at the same time as all aesthetes and epicureans, lovers of good and beautiful things, who will know how to savor the place and the moment.
