On a clear day you can even see the Black Forest! Exclusively for 2 people. Air conditioner. Wireless. The White Stork is the emblematic bird of Alsace. The home of the stork is perched, as is this unique and romantic apartment designed with a "cathedral ceiling" under the roof ... The exceptional and atypical atmosphere of this apartment is mainly due both to its layout and the location of the old historical house on top of which this holiday home is built. Perched atop the old rampart of 1291 - On the 3rd floor but accessible by a wide and comfortable staircase built to modern standards - this apartment offers an unusual charm. The roof structure rises to more than 5 meters above the living space which opens to the four cardinal points. A large window bay connects the sitting and dining areas to a covered terrace of 12 sqm2 facing south, in front of the roofs of the old medieval village of Riquewihr. Another window of the lounge opens to the east. Beyond the church tower, gables and roofs of the village, you can see the vineyards and the nearby village of Zellenberg. On clear days the view extends beyond the plain of Alsace and the river Rhine to the small volcanic hills of Kaiserstuhl in Germany and to the mountains of the german Black Forest! On the other side, to the west, the dining area, kitchen and bedroom are overlooking the famous Thieves Tower at the corner of the rampart. The hillside vineyards give way to forests and mountains of the Vosges ... Finally, to the north, the windows of the bedroom are overlooking the impressive rampart of 1291 and offer exceptional views of the vineyards!

At the Remparts de Riquewihr, we offer 9 exceptional gites, from a small studio to larger luxury apartments. Charming and luxury gites of the Rempart of the Year 1291 They form a set of 6 exceptional lodgings around a small garden: 4 of them are located in an old Renaissance house built in the year 1580 on the first rampart of Riquewihr erected in 1291. The property faces the famous Schoenenbourg vineyard which overlooks the village; 2 other apartments complete the series in an adjacent house dating from the 17th century. All these lodgings have been designed to meet the new 5-star standards for the furnished tourist apartments category. A small garden with a medieval design gives an exquisite touch of refinement to this original ensemble. The lodgings of the Rempart of the Year 1500 A set of 3 romantic, elegant and comfortable lodgings, decorated in the purest Alsatian tradition. These exceptional lodgings are located on the second belt of ramparts of Riquewihr, completed in the year 1500. The walls on the west side of our gîtes are made of the rampart itself. The facades on the east side have the appearance of typical Alsatian half-timbered houses. They are quietly located.

Les Remparts de Riquewihr (Ramparts of Riquewihr) is a small family business founded and run by a couple of tourism professionals - Martine and Jean-Paul Krebs - having many years of experience in airline business and travels. Martine et Jean-Paul think that - especially for a rather long stay (most of our guests are discovering the slow travel concept and are staying 5 nights and more) - it is not enough to sleep well during the night but it is necessary to enjoy the stay in a place which is somehow of the same level as the historical surroundings, the landscape, the mountain and the vineyards: beautiful. We put a lot of effort and care in the renovation and decoration of our vacation rental apartments because we want our holiday homes to be a memorable part of your travel experience to Alsace and France.
