By the Bay Bed and Breakfast Information

Local artists' work decorates the walls of this lovely Bed and Breakfast and there are many books to peruse for your reading pleasure. You can choose to spend time down 'by the bay', on the verandah, in the hammock or in a bright sunlit, common area inside the house. Consider having your wedding on the lawn. What a beautiful back drop for your special day. Adventures can take advantage of the waters of St Margaret's Bay as there are sheltered areas for swimming or kayaking. Pamper yourself with our artisan soaps and new pillow top mattresses. Awake to the smells of fresh-baked bread and locally roasted, fair trade organic coffee. A delicious full and continental breakfast, with a feature or an alternate each day is served with home-made bread and baked goods. Dietary restrictions can be accommodated.

Cathie Watson, a retired Health Professional, is living her dream of owning & operating a B and B. She opened By the Bay on lovely St Margaret's Bay in 2011. Breakfast is Cathie's favourite meal; she loves trying new recipes with locally sourced ingredients for her guests. Over the past 8 summers Cathie has developed some signature breakfast menus and no one leaves hungry (you can find many of our recipes under the "Stay With Us" tab and go to 'Our Amazing Breakfasts'). Cathie has 'helpers' (one or two at a time) from all over the world and meeting them is a bonus for our guests. A supporter of the local cultural community Cathie displays local artists' work on her B & B walls, hosts house concerts for singer/songwriters and writing workshops for aspiring authors. Working at being environmentally and socially responsible we compost, recycle, reuse, have solar collectors for domestic hot water, hang laundry on the line, catch rain water and now experimenting with making laundry soap. Sustainability and down home hospitality are important : home baked bread and granola local, free-range eggs, locally roasted, organic, fair trade coffee are all features.
