Description

Welcome to Poppy's Guest House where you will be sure of a warm and friendly welcome. Whether on business or pleasure, Poppy's central location, near Plymouth's Hoe and the historic Barbican makes it the ideal place to stay. We are centrally located, yet in a quiet area away from the main stream of other accommodation allowing you time to relax from all the attractions in the area. All room are tastefully decorated, light, airy. We offer day parking vouchers for street parking at a discounted rate. Note charges for street parking are under review from April 2017. With its spectacular Hoe (2 minutes walk), historical Barbican (10 minutes walk), waterfront and vibrant city centre, and new Drake Circus shopping centre (10 minutes walk), Plymouth is the ideal place to visit whether on business or pleasure. In addition the stunning scenery, the Dartmoor National Park is only a short drive way. Other local amenities within walking distance of Poppy's include: The Pavilion, with its, live shows, the Theatre Royal with a variety of entertaining performances, the National Marine Aquarium with its collection of sharks, and the Barbican leisure complex which has bowling alleys, night clubs and cinema complex.

Directions

  • Road from Sainsbury's Marsh Mills Roundabout (3.45 miles)
    Leave the A38 at Marsh Mills Roundabout. Large Sainsbury's on the left hand side. Continue along the A374 towards the city centre. Turn left into Bretonside B3240 follow the signs to the Barbican. At the mini roundabout take the first exit left and continue to follow the road. The Holiday Inn is on your left. On passing this there will be a pelican crossing followed by a set of traffic lights. Turn left at the traffic lights into Lockyer St then 1st right into Alfred Street.
  • Train from Plymouth Railway Station walking. (0.65 miles)
    On leaving the station, turn right then follow the path up the hill to North Cross roundabout. Follow the subway under the roundabout. Proceed down Armada Way through the city centre, The Copthorne Hotel on the right. You will cross over Mayflower Street, Royal Parade, Princess Street then finally Notte Street. Directly in front of you will be a large ships anchor. Turn right then walk towards the next set of traffic lights. Take a left turn into Lockyer St, then a right turn into Alfred Street
  • Coach from Plymouth Coach Station (0.50 miles)
    From Plymouth Coach Station entrance proceed down Armada Way. Continue walking towards the Hoe front. crossover Royal Parade, then cross over Princess Street. finally, at the pedestrian crossing, cross over Notte Street. There will be a large grey ships Anchor in front of you, turn right walk towards the traffic lights. Turn left into Lockyer Street, then right into Alfred Street.
