The Post Cottage Information

We strive to give guests the optimal location to relax, unwind, and explore the mid-Hudson region and the nearby Catskill park. The Post Cottage has large common areas where guests can relax and converse. Individual guest rooms are large with ensuite bathrooms. Most rooms have king beds and Jacuzzi/shower combinations. We have a newly resurfaced tennis court for guests. Generous and varied breakfasts are served at your convenience, and of course you can have coffee or tea at any time. A welcome package for standard stays includes snacks and drinks. We are a short walk from downtown Catskill with a variety of fine restaurants and shops. Walker and joggers may want to cross the nearby Rip van Winkle Bridge, a block away, and one mile from end to end across the Hudson River. You can walk around the historic homes in Catskill, or visit Catskill Point, at the confluence of the Hudson and Catskill Creek, where Henry Hudson landed 400 years ago. The city of Hudson, with many shops and restaurants, is a couple of miles away on the other side of the bridge. Nearby, the Catskill Mountains offer extensive hiking, ranging from pleasant strolls to vigorous climbs, as well as boating and swimming in the mountain lakes.

  • Road from New York City (110.0 miles)

From Manhattan, New York, you can drive or take Amtrak.  The Amtrak route is a two hour trip up the east side of the Hudson River and is one of the most scenic train rides in the country.  It usually runs from Penn Station and you would get out at Hudson, New York.  We are a few minutes from there, and you can take a taxi or rent a car in Hudson.  If you drive, use GPS to get to 174 Spring Street, Catskill.  From Manhattan, you can take the scenic drive up the Palisades Parkway from the George Washington Bridge, and then Route 87, the Thruway.  From Long Island or the Bronx, you can also take the Taconic Highway, which is a particularly beautiful drive, but a few minutes longer.  By car figure on about two hours from New York, or 35 minutes from Albany airport.
