Fernwood Information

Description

At end of a country road and at the beginning of the Connemara Greenway, Fernwood.eco is a true oasis with the benefit of being minutes away from Clifden town. Go to Fernwood.eco for the best rates. The house is on a 140 acre private farm comprising of native woodland and bog, on the shores of the Salt Lake. Walk out your front door to explore, in complete solitude, the wonders of the Connemara bogland, relax in our newly constructed lakeside sauna, cross our rope bridge, marvel at ancient ruins that dot the land and think of early life in this remote setting. Stroll down the river through the woodland and take a break in the clearing. This is just the tip of the iceberg of what is available on your doorstep, not to mention the wider Connemara area. We are a small family farm with wonderful hens providing daily eggs, a polytunnel bursting with greens and resident dogs and donkeys to have a chat too! You can chose to stay in our completely refurbished garage conversion which is finished to the highest spec with underfloor heating, wood burning stove, sheepskin rugs, feather down duvets and some locally sourced goodies to get you started. For the ultimate experience, we also have a luxury treehouse dome.

We are a busy family of four with lots going on!! When you arrive you will let yourself in using the automatic keypad. We will call by to say hello once you are settled and to answer any questions you might have.

Directions

A car is recommended when staying at the property
  • Road from Clifden (1.5 km)
Our Eircode is H71 XY80; the most straightforward way to find us is to put the Eircode to Google Maps once you are in Clifden town; it will then guide you the most direct route to the house. If you enter the postcode en route from Galway, prior to arrival in Clifden, it will send you on a road off the N59 that has no through way! This Google Maps link shows the correct road to take to get here.
