The Langbury Information

Description

Welcome to The Langbury; the award winning Edwardian home of Nigel and Paula Smythe. Originally built as a gentleman's residence, it stands in its own grounds set in an elevated position in the small coastal village of Blue Anchor. Here you will find a friendly welcoming atmosphere combined with individual attention and an excellent Aga cooked, locally sourced breakfast. Accommodation is provided in five individually furnished rooms which all enjoy magnificent views of the sea and the hills of glorious Exmoor and the Quantocks, which are a feast for the eyes at any time of year. The Langbury is 100 metres from the beach and Blue Anchor Station where you can board a steam train on the West Somerset Railway - the longest preserved railway in the country. We are approximately half a mile outside of the Exmoor National Park and three miles from the medieval village of Dunster with its fairy-tale National Trust Castle. The ancient harbour town of Watchet is three miles to the East, the traditional seaside resort of Minehead is five miles to the west. Beyond this is open moorland which has thousands of acres of some of the most beautiful un-populated scenery in England. Our outdoor swimming pool and sunbathing area provides an ideal space to relax during the summer months whilst our well tended gardens can be enjoyed all year round. We provide excellent off road private parking and free Wi-Fi.

Directions

  • Road from M5 Junction 23 (35.0 miles)
From North & East – M5 Southbound: Leave the Motorway at J23 &follow the A39 to & through Bridgwater following signs to Minehead. Remain on A39 for nearly 20 miles until the village of Carhampton.* Watch for turning on the right as entering village at bottom of hill. Take this road sign-posted Blue Anchor for approx.1 mile over hill and into village, pass Blue Anchor Bay Garage on right & continue for 250 yds – The Langbury is on the right. And the sign is visible from about 50yds.
  • Road from Approaching the Langbury (5.0 miles)
Most Sat. Nav. systems will direct you through Watchet to Blue Anchor. This will mean you have a very awkward approach to the Langbury’s steep drive. Our recommended route is on the A39 to Carhampton and B3191 to Blue Anchor.
