Rosendale Inn Information

Description

The restored log house and cottage were built in 1800. In 1919, Col. Brown, the first Cousin of First Lady Ellen Wilson, bought the property. My family purchased Rosendale in 1988 and it has been a continuously operating B&B ever since. It is associated with Presidents Wilson, FDR, Harding and their families (see our museum room). FDR held a presidential luncheon at Rosendale in 1939. Besides history, including Civil War, the property abounds with wild life, including birds, deer, and wild turkey. We have even seen wild swans. There are plenty of quiet places to go for a walk, including along Smith Creek, part of which is Rosendale. We have a Museum Room for your pleasure as well as a large library, game and meeting with hundreds of books, including five the Innkeeper has written, and games. The owner is a historic preservationist. Restored suites are large, some with double rooms, 11 ft ceilings and all have en-suite private baths (one with a double shower and a claw foot bath tube in the bedroom), and A/C. If you love historic houses in a farm setting (with cows in the field) on 20 secluded peaceful acres you will love it here. We promise you will see lots of deer here and the starry southern night sky.
